Baby Monk Seal

A good friend here on the mainland belongs to a Save the Monk Seal organization and emailed me on Wednesday, saying there had been a baby born on Kauai. While it's that time of year, recently- actually last Sunday, there had been a slaughter of a three month old seal pup.  We were told that this story had made national news; such an incredible shame.  Even though we were leaving on Thursday evening, my friend let me know the location and we took a drive out to see it.  Friends, what an incredible treat this was for a animal lover, me; in fact it is safe to say this made my whole trip.  I can also say that if we were to spend extended time there, I would be volunteering with this group; the volunteers were so incredibly nice and helpful.   I hope you enjoy these photos.

This plaque is at the airport and we couldn't help but take a photo.  Seeing this mama and pup will be a memory that I will cherish forever.  Yes, I am one of those people.
Our flights were relatively easy; although we cat-napped on the plane we didn't sleep very much.  Needless to say, by last night I was so tired my brain turned to mush.  Coming into Colorado was one of the bumpiest rides I've ever experienced.  It feels so good to be back home!  For the next four days or so we will be dog sitting one of daughter's dogs and I know I'll get my fix.   I will probably begin the search for a new puppy though this week.  It's as windy here as it was in Kapaa but the sun is shining-yippee.
Please go visit my good friend Val and tell her thanks for getting this info to me.  She also has info on "Save The Monk Seal" if you are interested,  http://mygirlzgotpaws.blogspot.com/
I think you'll love Val's blog as much as I do.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and that you are blessed with those things that make your heart soar.
Hugs, Noreen

  3. Awww.. Is that cute, or what? What a sweet baby pup! I just love all animals, too. Show me any kind of baby and my heart melts. Who knows? Someday you may end up there as a volunteer as a non-visitor! xo Diana

  4. What wonderful pictures! We happened to see a baby seal when we were in Oregon last year. I didn't have my camera with me that morning, so I didn't get any pictures. :-(

I'm glad you got home safely ... how's your hubby doing?

Continuing to pray that you will find just the right dog for you. ;-)

You are SO LUCKY to have seen this! and I am SO HAPPY you shared these photos with us...
By the way, "We actually RELOCATE house mice"... I kid you not, and last year when we had SO MUCH SNOW and a little mouse was SITTING on the OUTSIDE windowsill, My Hubby was trying to figure out HOW TO LET him in...
    Thank you again for sharing,
    Big Hugs,
