A Fun Adventure

Hello and Happy Tuesday! Yesterday hubby and I went on a drive, mainly to see the colors and we had a fun adventure! We took a couple of roads we'd not been on before and it was so refreshing. WE love barns and of course stopped to get photos of this one and all of the sudden hubby says "there's a moose". He was huge and very fast.

We continued on to a new to us Recreational Area and saw some pretty colors.

The lake we went to was at the Tundra level and it was gorgeous.  There are about 5 lakes in this area, but it was just too cold to hike; we plan on going back next summer.

After this, we headed to Estes and enjoyed our picnic lunch in the park and walked through town.  We always try to support the shops there, especially since they have taken a hit from Covid-though there were a good amount of tourists.

I love the autumn season and colors changing, so know we'll head back up there soon.
Have a great day!

To The Mountains We Must Go

Happy Tuesday to you. I know we just got back home last Thursday, but I talked hubby into going up to Rocky Mountain National Park today and was lucky enough to get reservations for entrance to the park. With Covid, they have limited the number of people allowed each day; while I've never heard of a National Park doing this, these are different times. We packed a lunch and headed to the mountains, hoping to see some Elk and walk a couple of trails. The elk were grazing in the meadows and not up close like during the rutting season. However, when we went to walk around of one of favorite lakes, we spotted these Rainbow Trout in the streams. We are not fisherpeople, but still appreicateed their beauty(and taste when we eat trout at restaurants).

It was a quick trip, we were back home within four hours~but for this mountain girl, it satisfied the need.

Hope you have a great afternoon.

The Beauty of Creation

Hello again, These are the last of our trip pics and I hope you enjoy them. The lake is Sylvan Lake in Custer and is gorgeous! We hiked around it and even had to do some bouldering.

The waterfall was Bridal Veil falls in Spearfish Canyon.
This historical marker was on the side of the road where we pulled off for lunch; we loved seeing it, but due to time restraints we weren't able to go explore.

Hope you have a great week and please stay healthy.

Overload of Bison

Happy Saturday to you. I'm pleased to say we have clear blue skies today and it is wonderful. As I mentioned yesterday, we took lots of photos in Custer State Park and the Bison shown here are proof. They are magnificient animals and we always enjoy seeing them.

Not sure if these were in the Park or in Spearfish Canyon.

This old cabin was out on the way to Devil's Tower in Wyoming. We love old barns and homesteads, so had to stop to be a photo.
One last pic of one of the herd.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Joy to you.

Custer, South Dakota

Happy Friday to you! We had a wonderful time in Custer, South Dakota this week; we stayed in a wonderful campground and spent two days exploring parts of the State Park and surrounding areas that we haven't been to before.  These turkeys cruised through our campground and were right across the street from our campsite.

On Tuesday we saw these mountain Goats meandering through the town.  They were all young.

Along with some close friends, we took a safari and four wheeling trip.  I loved the colors of the grass!
Wild donkeys sure know how to please the tourists.

Loved this cute little guy.

I have more photos for tomorrow; but let's just say we will be going back to Custer again, maybe not next year, but in the future.  There is just so much to see and do.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Trails

Since we purchased our travel trailer, hubby has always been the driver, until yesterday.  We both knew that I needed to be able to tow it, in case of an emergency.  Yesterday when we were loading up to go get it for our getaway, hubby had me drive the Tahoe.  I had previously told him I only wanted to drive it on our street.  So we get there and he starts giving me instructions on how to back the Tahoe up to align with the trailer hitch.  Guess what, I did it perfectly-probably because he was giving me instructions.  I towed the trailer home without any issues; it tracks perfectly behind the Tahoe and is pretty easy, even with its size.  I had to stop at a stop sign after we left the storage yard, so he jumped out and took a picture proving I had done it.  While I'm hoping not to have to drive it on the Interstate, I feel more comfortable now.  We are heading to the Black Hills for a couple of days with some friends.     So looking forward to this time to get away.

Joy to you~

Dear Friends,  This year has certainly been a different one and as I checked our town calendar I found that  almost all of our typical activities-such as a parade, car show, craft fair have all been cancelled. The only thing that is still going on is our Hot Air Balloon Dawn Patrol.   However, one thing we noticed is that down our Main Street on each light pole there is a flag waving; it felt so patriotic to see them all.  Regardless of the turmoil going on in America right now, we live in the most incredible country.
We had talked of getting a reservation to go into Rocky Mountain National Park tomorrow, but were too late and they are all full.  Maybe next week, though with snow in the forecast I doubt it.  Snow-what?!  It's much too early, but may help put out some of our fires.  So I think our weekend will be quiet; the winds picked up again and the smoke is bad.  Our thought of a long bike ride fizzled with the air quality being so dangerous.  I hope you all have a great weekend and can thank those in America who serve us-whether truck drivers, farmers, grocers, first responders, police or public servants.
Blessings to you!

Dog Pile

Good Morning to you! As I mentioned yesterday, we had our daughter's two dogs with us for the weekend; we often trade dogsitting for trips and Hunter loves both Lily and Copper. It gets a bit crazy at times, especially since we don't have the acreage for all of them to run. This photo was taken yesterday morning, when they are all full of energy. Lily is getting older and doesn't play as much as she used to, so Hunter will whine a bit at her and then he turns to Copper.

Bitey Face.  Hunter loves being with his cousins and little did he know they were going home yesterday afternoon.
This is how the dogs spend the evening-Hunter snuggled up with Lily.   Two peas in a pod; it is going to be a sad day when Lily isn't able to play any longer.
We call Copper the moose-you can see why.  She is out for the count.  Copper and Lily are such wonderful dogs and we love it when they are here with us.

Our house is quiet again, but in a few weeks Hunter will go to their house for a few days.

I hope you have a great day.

                                                                  Hello September

Hello friends,  It is so hard to believe that September is already here. I think with the pandemic and other factors happening in our country, the months have sailed by.  In case you didn't know much about this month, here are some bits of trivia.

September is…

Baby Safety Month
Blueberry Popsicle Month
Potato Month
National Piano Month
Classical Music Month
Chicken Month

I've got some photos of dogs playing together that I will share tomorrow; we had Copper and Lily here with us for four nights and Hunter was one happy pup.

Today it has started out cold, fall is definitely in the air!  I will be doing some things in garden and then sewing, as well as running errands.  Have a fantastic day!
