Needle and Thread

Do you ever have those early morning hours, somewhere between deep sleep and consciousness that you find yourself wondering what day it is? That was how I felt this morning and I woke up feeling pretty groggy. Hopefully, my day won't be like this. Some of you asked about the quilting I would do on my latest project; I haven't done much but thought I'd share a photo of what I did the other day.

Yesterday, after chores were done and my walk and ride completed, I sat down and quilted. It was just too hot to garden or weed and since hubby was at the course I felt the freedom to just stitch. I can tell you this is the first time I've done "echoing" stitches, but I love the effect. It will take me about two or three times the time to do this, but I think the stars and squares will stand out so much more. I'm off now to walk and then to ride; we feel that with school in, biking is a bit more tricky first thing, as far as avoiding buses, cars, children, parents and dogs. I hope you have day filled with creativity!
Joy to you!

  1. Good morning! I am so glad you posted that picture so I could get a good look at your quilting. I have seen soo much machine quilting up close, but not the hand quilted ones. It is beautiful! I agree too, the pattern you are using for that is really going to make those stars pop. I made two different squares yesterday with stars,(for 2 different runners) and they were a little tricky, but I finally figured them out...whew. Eventually I am going to have to begin the quilting part, and honestly I am wondering how it will go. It makes or breaks the quilt of course! Enjoy your day Noreen. I can't believe the kids are already back to school. Where did that summer go?

  4. Nice patterns and colors! Mom said the hardest thing for her is to pick fabric cuz she has made many poor choices in the past. Butt she made a couple good choices and they just made the other ones look worse. It is cloudy here today. We HOPE it will rain but if not at least the sun isn't piercing through our furs!

  9. Wow, Mommy says she wants to fix up an old quilt, but we aren't sure she can. You do some good quilting. We offered to help, but we were told no. Oh well, more kisses for Momma for trying , and off to bed.

  11. How are you marking your quilting? It might take you a little longer, but I can't help but believe that you'll be so happy that you took the time ... those stars will pop! And IMHO a quilting design that accentuates a beautiful pattern like you chose is a *perfect* design.
