Good Morning to you! I hope you had a great weekend; we did. Our oldest daughter's family acquired two Seadoos or WaveRunners and took hubby and I out on Saturday, late afternoon. It has been approximately 18 years since we had one and I can honestly say that I am much more cautious now. I did enjoy the family time and seeing the grands loving every minute of their time with their dad and Papa, out on the water. Yesterday was a little more relaxed; we did have a family lunch over at our daughter's house and have some great time sharing visions for the future.
Now onto more of the sights in Alaska. Juneau is the capital and has a lot more people; it definitely felt bigger than our two other ports. Everywhere you look, there are seaplanes also known as floatplanes, landing or taking off.
We had been told that we should take a ride on the Mt. Roberts Tram; we did and found there to be excellent views but also nasty biting flies. The tram was actually quite steep coming back down-almost like being on a roller coaster.
Hubby had a friend who said we had to go into Red Dog Saloon-it has been there forever and has quite the atmosphere. We had appetizers for lunch and it was fine but so very crowded.
I'm sure that if we had tourguides, we would have seen a lot more of the town. We actually did go into a local library, so that we could have free wifi; not sure why I haven't done this before but in the future, I will make sure I know where the libraries are. This was also our shortest stop in a port and didn't allow us a huge amount of time to wander around.
Tomorrow, I will share our favorite port on this trip.
Have a peace filled day!

Ooooh, the views from that tram sound wonderful, but I'm too afraid of heights to even think about riding it.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't aware, until after my dad returned from his Alaskan cruise, that you can't get to Juneau by car. No wonder you saw so many seaplanes. ;-)
Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, too.
The tram looks like fun. I bet the views were incredible.
ReplyDeleteThe tram looks great, however I am afraid of heights. What a wonderful trip. Seaplanes are great! I did manage a ride over the SF. bridge years ago. yes, we still have our other three Schnauzers. Sasha is almost 14 and is struggling with "Old Dog" Vestibular Disease". sometimes it just gets better by itself. Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteMy sister just got back from an Alaskan cruise and shared some very similar pictures! She had a blast! Gary is trying to convince me that I should go on this cruise but... I don't know.. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all are having LOTS OF FUN! Enjoy! So now I'll tell you what I told my sis... if you see Sarah tell her I said hey! lol
Have fun!
Really enjoying all your travel photos, Noreen. An Alaskan cruise is something Bob and I have talked about doing. With my family in Vancouver it would work out well to depart from there. Hopefully, someday!
