Happy Tuesday to you all. A year and a half ago, hubby and I spent a week in Redmond Oregon with our best friends and traveling companions. Barbara and I had so wanted to attend the Sister's Quilt Show and take some classes; we had a ball! One of the classes we took was with Rob Appell-aka Man Sewing associated with Missouri Star Quilt Company. It was a fun class and he is a hoot. I came home and finished the top, but it sat until last summer when I began quilting it by hand. While it has taken me that long to quilt it, it was such a fun finish. Hubby decided I had put too much quilting on it, but it was a once in a lifetime class, so why not?! I renamed it Ocean Blue, because it reminds me so much of Kauai.
The back is a batik and fits perfectly with the name.
There were three quilt patterns I used and I feel like one more project is off of my shoulders. The only thing I didn't realize until taking the photos was that my border had rippling, which really disappointed me(but in reality it won't matter when someone is snuggled under it). I have learned since then to measure your borders carefully before attaching-so hope I don't make that mistake again. Hubby and I loved the colors and it will always remind me of being with loved ones.
Hope your day is going well.
Joy to you!

ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness! This is just beautiful!! It feels so good to complete a project that has been neglected for so long...your post reminded me that I need to get down to business and finish a quilt I started for our son...I am ashamed to tell you how long ago I started it!! Thank you for the inspiration!
