Bird Watching

It's Outdoor Wednesday and let me tell you that it is cold here today. Hubby got these photos yesterday, while he was playing golf. We always have Bald Eagles winter here and he said he saw so many around the course but we have never seen Heron's nesting before.

Don't these bird look incredible up in the "eagle" tree?! These are where the eagles usually nest and we were surprised to see the Heron's there.

I think they look like a pair of Lovebirds! We don't have snow yet but it is coming. I am running errands today but staying in this afternoon. From California to the East Coast, lots of friends are getting hammered with storms. I hope you stay warm and safe!

  1. Hi Noreen, These photos are spectacular! I loved seeing the herons nesting, as well as the eagles. We are expecting our third snowstorm of the season, coming in Thursday and Friday. Someday soon, though, spring will come. I look forward to the flowers and warm sunny days.
    Hugs, Beth

  2. What fabulous photos John got! I love wildlife photos! If I ever got really serious about photography, it would be wildlife, flowers, or food.

    Hugs to you sweetie!
So much going on here with Sam and the new babies, too. Please pray for God to move in each situation.
    Love to you,
    Beck

  3. These pictures are great Noreen! Last year Gary and I watched a live web cam every day of eagles nesting and the babies as they grew and then flew away. It was really neat to see..
We are not getting much snow here... just skiffs and a lot of blustery windy conditions. It is cold!!
Stay warm and enjoy your Wednesday.

  5. Lovely pictures. I remember a friend taking me to see Bald Eagles when I was staying in Wisconsin. Such big birds. The herons do look strange. We seem have a lot here but to see them in trees like that was unusual! Joan

  6. What beautiful pictures, Noreen! Such majestic birds!

Spring is on the way. I have to keep telling myself that or I will simple self-combust! We had one day of 50 degrees here, this week, and since then it's been in the teens & spitting snow. I am so over this frigid weather already!! *bleh*

God bless you with all good things this afternoon--Andrea

  9. WONDERFUL photos! Isn't it a thrill to see the eagles?!?! And we love the herons! There is one who frequents a creek near our house that feeds into the Kansas Ocean, but he's very camera shy!

  10. I think Herons are so weird looking. Fun to have so much wildlife to watch. Some day I would love a really good camera that I could put a great lens on to get great macro shots. I love pictures of things so close that you aren't quite sure what you're seeing. While we LOOK like there has been snow over us most of the day not a single flake has fallen. But they say our big storm coming in from California will hit very early in the morning. We could have 7-12 inches. CRAZY if that really happens but if no ice then we all say, "BRING IT ON".

  12. My dear Noreen... I thought perhaps you would enjoy the info & videos at these websites. Here in northwest Indiana we have quite the migration of Sandhill Cranes. People from all over the state go to the Jasper-Pulaski Park to watch, take pictures, & enjoy. Here's the links so that you & others may enjoy too. :-)

    Blessings--Andrea

  17. Great pictures!

There's a large group of bald eagles who winter at the lock and dam on the Mississippi River ... no more than 30 minutes from here. I can't believe DH and I have never been there to see them. I don't know if we'll get there this winter, but God willing, we plan to next winter! They're such majestic birds.

I have never seen herons in a tree ... didn't know they could even do that! ;-)
