On another note, many of you have read me saying that moving to a new state and making friends during this season of my life(i.e. empty nest and retired) has been a real challenge for me.
Last year I was discouraged and lonely because let's face it friends a gal needs a girlfrend; there are just some needs a hubby can't meet but this year I've been content~after all hubby and I are closer than we've ever been. Having said that I also realize it might be in part because I've made so many incredible friends blogging. Yesterday one of my very best, closest friends called just to check on me; this is a gal I've become so close to through blogging and life circumstances and I can't tell you how blessed I've been by her. There are others too that I haven't talked to but still hear from almost daily and I am blessed.
It reminded me of a verse in Proverbs: "There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother(or sister). Prov.18:24
So to Becky, Carol, Sue, Debbie, Lynn, Dineen, Karen and all my other blogging buds I thank the Lord for you today and thank you for your love and friendship. I pray His richest blessings on you and yours. Hugs to each of you!
Merry Christmas!

And dear friend, I'm so thankful I can call you that. What a blessing you are to me. Hugs and love..
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for generously posting about my giveaway here! I have made note of your additional entry!
ReplyDeleteAnd I completely know how you feel...while I have not "moved away" I do spend many hours on my own keeping up with my business and a lot of dear friends have moved away...so I know a bit how you feel. I truly have found that now some of my dearest friends are those whom I have made right here in blogland...their comments, emails and encouragement are what gets me through. Hope that we can become fast friends too! ;)
As they say: Please take care of your computer, for all your friends are there.

I feel the same way about all my blogging friends! Never imagined starting a blog would turn into so many friendships. Going to check out the giveaway now!! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteYour blogging friends are blessed by you too. I too have been spending mostly 24/7 with my husband as we are working together. It can be challenging but we are actually getting along better than ever. Do you know that he now encourages me to have my daily morning quiet time because he sees a difference in me throughout the day when I do? I am overjoyed and give God the glory for that one. Because as I spend time with Him, the fruit of the Spirit becomes more evident to my husband. And that's not something we can do on our own. So, as I pray for my loved one, I'm encouraged. I hope to somehow encourage you too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post. Glad you got to talk to your friend (o: Today is my best friend BD but she is in New York... I will have to settle with talking to her on the phone.
ReplyDeleteFriends are so important (so are husbands!) Glad to call you one. Your posts give me comfort. Thank you for your prayers
ReplyDeleteHi Noreen,
ReplyDeleteI love this scripture, and I hold on to it, and like you I am so thankful for my new friends, and you are one of them. Blogging has been so great for me,because of having my family so far away it has filled a void. I have so enjoyed getting to know you and the more we talk the more I realize the things we have in common. The only thing is you can quilt, and I can't, LOL maybe some day you will be able to teach me.
I don't know about you but I think of you all so much each day, and if there is a prayer request, no matter where I am at if that peon or request comes to mind I always stop and pray. Thank you for your friendship.
Hugs,
Sue
Hi Sweetie, To have friends you must first be a friend, and you are indeed a lovely one by any measure! SOOOO blessed to know you!
ReplyDeleteHope your day is full of joy (and a little less work!)
Lots of love,
Beck
