Sunday dawned and hubby and I joined our daughter, her hubby and her three girls to participate in our local Memorial Day Festival. There were so many great activities from the 5K run/walk to a rock climbing wall, bungee experience, Scottish highland games, concert plus a lovely area of town to hang out in. This is the first 5K I've ever walked although I've walked around the lake many times, just never in a timed competition. Needless to say I did not do as well as I had hoped but I did finish. Of course having our granddaughter finish the race with us certainly helped. My next goal is to improve my time by walking more and bike riding. Hubby and I especially liked the Highland games~watching the men throw the hammer, shot put and the girls throw a hay type bale over a 24' high bar. We did not get to see the men throw the cabers but loved seeing all the great effort and emotion they put into their games. We hope to see them again Labor Day weekend in Estes Park. Our weekend finished with rain, hail, thunder and of course lighting with more in the forecast. Got to love living in a state where the weather changes constantly.
Congratulations on finishing the race. You can be so proud of yourself. Hugs..
ReplyDeleteYeah!! I wasn't sure you would want to give it another go :)
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun.
Glad you had a good weekend. Looks like fun. we should check that out sometime (meaning the Pelican festival). We were in Boulder with the kids for the creek festival. Lots of free samples (o: I will have pictures I think. I couldn't download them for some reason. Headaches that computers can be!

It certainly sounds like you had a fun filled weekend. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteCame by to catch up today, didn't get on the computer last week at all. Enjoyed all your pictures and congratulations on finishing the race. It must have been a joyous festival for your town considering what it went through last year. We have friends that live there that suffered some minor damage in the tornado last year. Love the lilacs - I only had one bloom on my bushes this year.
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
ReplyDeleteIf we are EVER free to attend the Pelican Festival I do believe this something we would enjoy.
