It's Thankful Thursday and I am so thankful that our snow has stopped falling and the day is bright and clear. It is still very cold, 26 degrees, but at least there is hope that each day will get warmer. May, oh May, please come and stay. There is a bit of advice the nurseries give out, here in Colorado, and that is that you shouldn't plant until after Mother's Day and the longer you wait the better. I'll admit to being impatient waiting but I'm so glad I hadn't done anything yet. I fear my flowering cherry tree may not bloom this year; the lilac looks good but we will just have to wait and see. Hubby and I do have some plans to plant a few more trees but again, that will wait. I found these photos and wanted to share. The winter white snow is beautiful, even in May. I did not take these.

This one could have been taken at our lake around the corner.

This summer, in July, we will be taking a cruise to Alaska-the inland passage to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. This is quite a splurge for us and I was hoping we might see the Northern Lights, but have been told it is too late in the season to see them. Aren't these just incredible! We are looking forward to seeing Alaska; one excursion I want to do is visiting and possibly going dog sledding. We will be with our bff's, Jim and Barb, our next door neighbors in Ca. I know it seems like a long way off right now, but July will be here before you know it. I hope you are having a fantastic week and if you are getting our storm, you are able to stay inside! I'm hoping the mosquitoes and mayflies will be killed by the freezing temps.
Warmer days will be here before you know it!

  1. WOW yes I am shouting.
That first photo would make a gorgeous Christmas card. Congrats on your cruise to Alaska and your upcoming anniversary. If we ever do a cruise I would choose Alaska.

  2. Our family has a cabin on a lake on the south end of Glacier National Park. I remember sitting up on the deck late into the night hoping to see the Northern Lights. I never did but oh how glorious that would be. We have a friend up in Alaska and so love all his pictures and adventures. Yea for being excited. I just took the dog out and BRRRRR. It was 80 degrees yesterday afternoon. CRAZY

  4. A very cold and wet day here in OP. We keep hearing that we may see 1-3 inches of snow, but at this point we don't see it happening or if it does, sticking around very long. A good day for us to snooze and Mom to get some cleaning done.

Beautiful photos. Almost like a magical land.

  5. We did a cruise to the Caribbean, and while I enjoyed it, I don't know that I'll ever be in a hurry to do that again. However, I would love to do a cruise to Alaska! Maybe we'll do that for our 30th anniversary (in 4 1/2 years).

Hope you get some warm weather soon.

  6. The cruise sounds soo good. My good girl friend went with her hubby a couple of years ago on that and she is STILL talking about how wonderful it is. It is 96 here today!! Yuck! Way too warm for me. Got the air on already. I could go for a nice chilly day...

  7. Snow! Oh my!! We have had some very nice days here and I am ever so thankful! A cruise, how nice! Gary is trying to get me to go on one but I would be way out of my comfort zone. I'm afraid I'd get sea sick?? He would like to see Alaska. My sister is going on one over the summer to Alaska. I'm sure you will have a great time. Have you been on cruises before? Maybe you can convince me that I should bite the bullet and book a cruise with Gary (haha)! I hope you get some warmer weather real soon.

  8. The photos are indeed beautiful. MOM always waits until after Mothers day to plant anything. Although there have been preparations going on. I hope the weekend hold warm sunshine for you.

  9. Hi Noreen! Thanks so much for your visit! Gorgeous snow pics - my son and DIL that live in Denver are SO ready for some warmer weather! Being from Texas, this first year in CO has really been exciting for them but I think they're tired of the snow.

That's so cool that you were in a quilting ministry, too! So you know how much it means to be on the receiving end of one of those special gifts. We feel "covered in prayer"! Have a wonderful week!

  11. Thanks for stopping by, Noreen. We did the Alaska cruise last summer...and it was terrific. We also spent a week on land. Sadly, this time of year it is almost impossible to see the northern lights, as the north pole is in almost 24 hours of daylight. It is very surreal to have the sun shining in the middle of the night! Have a blast!!!
