Sunset Through The Smoke

As many of you know, here in northern Colorado we've had a huge wildfire burning this weekend. We live in the plains but love the area that is burning; the smoke is filling the sky, we watch and pray for those loosing their homes. Last night the sunset was beautiful and here are two shots hubby got.

Today the fire has been classified at a level one which allows the state to get outside federal help for fighting it.  The winds here are causing it to change course, thus making fighting it more difficult for the crews.  What began as just 2 acres increased to 2,000 Sat.night and was up to 20,000 acres yesterday; we can only hope that fire tankers are sent in to help. Apparently, it is catching up with the damage of the fire in New Mexico.
Our hearts go out to those who have lost so much and we pray for the one person that has not been accounted for.

  1. That is so sad. I think that fire is just so scary because it can change on a whim with the wind. Those are spectacular shots of the sunset. xo Diana

  2. The photos are beautiful but then when you think about the circumstances it saddens you. Praying that the fires would be put out and that there would be no loss of life

  3. The sunset is beautiful, to bad it's a fire that has caused such a beautiful sky. My MOM will be in Colorado on Wednesday near that area. Our prayers are going out to all those who are affected.

  4. Fire is scary - be safe!!

    Your friends,

    Murphy & Stanley

  5. Lifting everyone there up in prayer. The fires have been so intense this year in the SW and W. So sad. Beautiful photos even amidst the devastation.

  6. Mom has been following the news about the fires. So scary and so sad for those who are losing so much. Paws crossed for the firefighters to get it under control soon.

Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

  7. Oh....we understand about in Montana. We have had almost a month of rain, even have had snow recently in the mountains.Praying for safety for all.
    Take care,

  8. Gorgeous pictures, but scary about the fire. We sure have our share of those in California. Praying all remain safe.

  9. The photos are beautiful ... just a shame that they were possible due to those horrible fires. Praying for all those affected.

  10. So frightening. With the drought this is predicted to be a terrible year for them. Yes, our hearts go out to everyone affected.

  11. When I first glanced at the first photo I saw a heart does go out to all those path of that fire. Praying for a much needed rain and calm winds.
Hope you are well, I am counting the days til vacation :)
