Once again it is the day we stop and count our blessings, acknowledging that even in this uncertain world we can give thanks.  I can say that I am so thankful that our little Reggie is still doing well with no apparent indications of a brain tumor.  Now, I realize it may be like this until we are forced to make a decision but for now, I'm so grateful.  When our vet gave us the time frame, he said 3-4 weeks and it's been 8 weeks; I guess that is why they call it the Practice of (vet)Medicine.  As with people, there is only One who numbers our days and I am blessed by this day.  I am thankful that hubby and I went to the movies yesterday; it was raining and a golf outing was cancelled so we took in a show.  We saw The Debt; it was good-good acting and pretty intriguing.  I am so thankful that our oldest and her family are starting home from their vacation today; I can't wait to see them all! I am thankful that our youngest and I canned another forty pounds of peaches Sunday night and we are now done with peaches and will just wait for apples to appear and then will can alot of applesauce.  I am thankful that both our girls have continued on in this skill, thus supplying the needs of their families.  I am thankful for two days of rain and the possibility it might rain in Texas.  So many dear blogging friends are being impacted by the fires; I well remember what the threat of fire was like when we lived near open space in Ca.
I am thankful for the all day Beth Moore simulcast that I am going to on Sat. with two friends.
I am thankful we are getting the family calf on Sat. and will learn much about animal care with her.
I am thankful it isn't raining because I like to walk when it's a bit nicer.
I am thankful for His love, poured out on us.  How about you, what are you thankful for today?

  1. What a wonderful practice it is to count our blessings. Not that we're not thankful every day, right? But there's just something so moving about taking the time to count them out.

I'm so glad that Reggie continues to do well. I'm praying that you will see clearly when the time comes ... but in the meantime, enjoy your precious time with your sweet guy.

Have a terrific Thursday, dear friend!

  2. We truly do have so much to be thankful for! DH and I just read the verse about numbering our days in our devotions this morning. I need to give more thought to this I think.
I've wanted to see "The Debt"-I'm glad to hear it was worth going to.
    You never know!
And what a blessing you and your daughter can work at canning together! Our daughter moved closer recently so I'm hoping next year we can do the same!
    Take care-Kimberly

  8. Thanks for stopping by today and the lovely compliment on my quilts.

  9. Just getting back to you from my Teal Blog. You know I really am not familiar with a lot of support groups I know every area has them...I am using my hubby and the Lord for my support...not that the time may not come for me to go somewhere! I would suggest to your friend to ask her oncologist. They are very aware of things in the area that are available. Thanks for stopping by...I am sorry it took so long...but I had a rough spell...better now though!! Have a good day!

  10. Hello Noreen!
Thank you for stopping by today and saying hello...It's nice to 'meet' you. Goodness when I read your post it makes me miss all the canning I did when I lived in British Columbia. Do you have huckleberries in Colorado? They were all over the sides of the mountains where I lived and along with freezing them for pies or making jam we would can them. Oh my they were delicious no matter how you ate them! Your canned peaches sound so good...I used to can many batches of them because they were my favorite fruit. I'm sorry to read that your dog is not well...I can see why you're grateful to have this time with him. I too have many things to be grateful for and meeting people such as yourself is one of them. I hope you have a wonderful Friday!

  11. Hello again Noreen,
I tried to respond to the question you left in your comment about me being Irish but you don't have an email address so I'll answer you here :) My Mother was from England...her mother was English (we can get back to the 1600's with her family) and so was her father but somewhere along the line his family goes back to Ireland. My sister who lives in England has been trying to follow the 'trail' but so far no luck. The shillelagh came from his side of the family. Sadly I didn't grow up with my mother's family in my life so I'm afraid if there were Irish stories told I didn't hear them. So you have Maura's in your family? I have only met one other person with my name...I was told I was named after an Irish author. I have no idea who it was which is a shame. Oh well. It sounds as though you have lots of Irish stories and family information of your're very fortunate. mentioned something about my shillelagh having something square on it? It may look like that in the photo's but it's's round...a little lumpy but it's for sure round like a branch. Well I hope I answered all your questions...have a good night!
    Maura :)

  12. I count my blessings every often Noreen. Almost everyday. Having a paid for house and the best water from our well you could ever want is so wonderful, I thank God almost every day!!!
    It is such a blessing!!
Tinker came through her surgery with bells on. I can't wait to see her. It will be very hard to get her to not play hard tho she is such a tiger!!
    xx, Tinker & Fern

  13. Isn't it amazing how, when we begin to count our gratitudes, they seem to multiply?
