Manitou Cliff Dwellings

My heart has always been drawn to the native peoples here; seeing these cliff dwellings was so incredible and being able to walk through them was even better.

I have seen several areas with ruins; two  in Arizona but these were the most preserved I've seen.
I haven't been to Mesa Verde yet and hope to make that trip sometime in the future.
We had a wonderful weekend with our family; this was a birthday gift to both hubby and I and also Mother's Day and Father's Day-our kids really spoil us and we so appreciate their generosity.
Have a wonderful afternoon!  Noreen

  1. Hey Noreen,

This was such a sweet post in more ways than one. I love that your family had such a wonderful week end. When we were growing up we spent a LOT of time in cliff dwellings especially at Mesa Verde and the surrounding area. Your pics brought back so many wonderful times spent with my dad working and digging in some of those dwellings. One day on a dig(my dad was a grad student at Fort Lewis) my dad and I found peices to a kiva jar. Fort Lewis took the pieces, recreated the jar and gave to him. After my dad passed away my mom gave it to me and now it sits in my livingroom. I hope that one day you and your family will make it to Mesa Verde...it's such a special place. Take care.

  6. What a great time together with your family. We went to Mesa Verde only once, when our kids were 4 and 2. The steps up to the cliffs were scary for me, as scared as I am of straight up and down heights. Kristen was with her grandma, holding her hand, and she said, "This is not fun, Grandma!" I'd like to try it again.
