The Master Weaver

My life is but a weaving
Between my Lord and me
I may not choose the colours –
He knows what they should be
For He can view the pattern
Upon the upper side
While I can see it only
From this, the underside.

Sometimes He weaveth sorrow,
Which seemeth strange to me;
But I will trust His judgement,
And work on faithfully;
'Tis He who fills the shuttle,
And He knows what is best,
So I shall weave in earnest,
Leaving to Him the rest.

Not 'til the loom is silent,
And the shuttles cease to fly
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why;
The dark threads are as needed,
In the Weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.

For each of us our lives are woven distinctly and with great care and love. There are no two lives alike because we were all created by His Hand. We may have similarities or walk parallel paths but to each of us we have our own story and life. While we often don't understand what others go through because we have not walked their walk, we are called to love because He first loved us. Let us to be mindful that as we look upon someones life that we can not know the final outcome of the Weaver's skillful hand. It is His work and He may not be finished with us yet.

  2. Hi Noreen! I "happened" on to SUM and read your post. There are no words to express what a blessing it was to me. This year I have been married for 30 years to the man God has shown me is my perfect fit! Praise His Holy Name!!

    I would love to share some things with you that are too lengthy to share here. Do you have an email address where I could write you?
    Mine is holidayinthesun_1@yahoo.com

    Our situations are very similar, and I have never met anyone who I could say that about. It would be so great to chat with someone who understands. If you're not comfortable with that, that's fine, too. I'm just so thankful to have found SUM and your post.

    I'll be checking back that's for sure!!

    Joyful blessings,
    Becky

  3. Hi,

    Thanks so much for stopping by the other day!

    It's so nice to meet you.

    I've always loved this poem, I even bought a beautiful plaque with it on it.

    Blessings!

  4. I haven't read that poem in a long time and I faintly remember an old song with words from the last verse. Thank you for this touching reminder...
