Thankful Thursday

Blessings to you this new day!  As I sit writing, the sky is blue and geese are flying overhead honking, to let me know they are back. I love having them around but they do make our walking path a land mine, it is hard to avoid all the poop.  I am so thankful for the blessings on life; how about you?  On Tuesday, hubby and I ordered Plantation Wood Shutters for our living room; I am so excited that we are getting them in a month and can't wait for the transformation.  I have always loved shutters and never thought we'd have them until hubby declared he wanted them(once he made his comment, I jumped into the car so we could order them before he changed his mind when he saw the price)-as I complained about the very old faded Roman Shades we had.  The shutters will be white and I believe will make our living room look much more formal.  Recently I took a "decorating style" test and it confirmed what I new-I am a traditional gal with antiques thrown in here and there for good measure.  I know anything will look better than what we have and I'm very thankful hubby suggested it!
I am so thankful my brother and sister of my heart are coming out for a visit on Monday. Actually, they will be in Salt Lake for two days arriving today, drive to Vail for two days and then spend time with us.  I'm praying that the snow predicted doesn't get as heavy as the weatherman says; I don't want them driving up over the mountains in bad conditions.  They have assured me that they will postpone the trip, for a day or two, if the weather is really bad.
I am looking forward to meeting my good friend for lunch today. I am also thankful Hunter gets groomed tomorrow, he is looking a bit shaggy.
I hope you have a splendid day and count your blessings.

  1. Hello, dear! Stopping by for a quick visit.
I love it when something new is added to a room gives it the right pick me up it needs. I can't wait to see your new shutters!

Praying that your loved ones will have safe travels and a sweet visit.

    Love & hugs!

  2. Oh new shutters how wonderful . Looking forward to seeing photos of them when all is said and done . Good thing to go straight away before hubs changes his mind lol ! I love the farm house / antique look as for us here it is a bit of everything farm house and old lol ! Have a wonderful weekend !

  3. Are they in SLC today? Just in time for the weather to get cold and wet - rats! We bet the shutters will look beautiful. And they are expensive so good plan to get hubby on board before he could change his mind BOL!

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  4. Enjoy your visit with friends! Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Good to reflect upon our blessings; so much we just take for granted. Hugs to Hunter, Lilly, Petrol, and Bentley and you too of course!

  5. Oh how exciting on the shutters! I have always loved them too. So homey somehow and warm Enjoy the time with your brother and his wife! Good times ahead..

  6. Noreen, once again your post has lifted my pretty heavy heart by reminding me of things that I should be thankful for too. And I also love the geese and plantation shutters, they would make me feel better too! :-)

  7. We had shutters in our house when I was growing up. Love them. We are not getting snow in Iowa but bad weather coming our way....rain, wind, hail, tornadoes. Strange in October!

  8. Each day hold so much to be thankful for, even a shaggy dog.

  9. I can't wait to see your plantation shutters! I wanted them for our living room when we moved in, and DH even gave his approval. But I just couldn't bring myself to pay the $. We got 2" blinds for the whole house for the price we would have paid for shutters just in the living room.
