Autumn in the Mountains

It's Thankful Thursday friends and I'm so thankful for the gift of nature! This week, hubby and I took a quick trip to Steamboat Springs. Ever since we had ventured down to Pagosa Springs, I wanted to get back to Steamboat Springs for a comparison. It had been about four years since we were there last and I was anxious to see whether it was as I remembered; since it is only 3.5 hrs away verses 6.5, I wanted to see if it was as pretty. We had a great time, did some hiking and explored the town and came to the conclusion that if we want a short weekend getaway this is the place, but for longer trips we would love to go back to Pagosa.
Most of the Aspens were without leaves, but we did get a few touches of color.

Oh how I love the fall colors!  It rained and poured last night; we thoroughly expected snow this morning but woke up to sunshine.  We did see snow a bit higher up, so glad we were heading home-I am simply not ready for it yet.
We ate too much and I'm anxious to cut back now and to continue walking every morning.  Hunter had a great time with our daughter's family but came home one tired pup.  I need to give him a good brushing and then maybe even a bath.
I will be around visiting you today; for now I'm just thankful to be home!
Hugs, Noreen & Hunter

  1. I am glad you had a nice time. The fall colors are beautiful.

  2. I wondered where you'd been ... glad you had a wonderful time. I'd love to see the aspens in the fall ... I'll bet they're beautiful!

  3. Good morning! Gorgeous pics! Melody has a softball tournament once in Steamboat and we were there for a week! It was wonderful! I remember the drive in as one of the prettiest I have ever taken. Glad you enjoyed! Enjoy your day!

  4. MOM loves Steamboat. But she has not been there in years, so it was not my MOM you thought you saw. Dang. Beautiful photos.

  5. You know I am always so sad to see summer go, then the leaves start changing and the weather gets cooler and I remember how delightful fall is. Love your fall color

  6. Those short getaways are such fun. But you're so's always nice to get back home. Beautiful photographs

  7. God has an amazing color palette, doesn't He? What beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing with us!

  8. What gorgeous shots of the trees!!! My best friend lived in Steamboat Springs, and loved it. She still has a good friend there, and goes to visit when she can. I hope to go one day.
    Enjoy your day Noreen!!

  9. Woof! Woof! What a beautiful trip. LOVELY photos. For sure Hunter was glad to see you guys. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  10. Hello Friend, We've been so busy with our project I just don't have time to read any posts. I have so missed it and hope to be able to get back at it again soon.
Looks like you had a wonderful trip, love all the photos.
We are experiencing 40-60mph winds today, so maybe I will have the day off from construction :)
    Have a great day.

  11. We love autumn too but only because we like to chase (and eat) the leaves that fall down. Mom says she loves it because it is beautiful and great running weather. Dad says he loves it so he can stop mowing the lawn. We hope Hunter enjoys his bath!

    Your friends,

    Murphy & Stanley
