Fluff or Food?

Here is my thoughts on FLUFF: Yesterday I mentioned I was fighting a cold so I was going to have a relaxed kind of day.  Thankfully, I think I may just get by without entertaining this bug going around.  I thought I might watch a chick flick but didn't~just worked on the hand quilting project and watched some t.v.  As I was thinking about movies today I realized there are different categories of "chick flicks", i.e. tragedy-Romeo and Juliet, humor-Mama Mia and those great movies that end with a "happy ever after" scene, like Letters to Juliet.  So girls, what is your favorite chick flick, why and when do you watch it?  Yesterday, had I chosen to watch a movie, I would have picked Mama Mia because it makes me feel good.    How about you?  There are days when I just need a good cry and then I will purposely pick a movie that will bring on the tears but generally I try to stick to ones that are upbeat and fun.

Here's some food for today: As I read your blogs this weekend I was again aware of the great needs our community out in blogland has. Today's devotional was so timely that I just have to share, it's for each of us, because if you aren't going through tough  times right now, just wait-they are probably right around the corner.
"Learn to appreciate difficult days. Be stimulated by the challenges you encounter along your way.  As you journey through rough terrain with Me, gain confidence from your knowledge that together we can handle anything.  The knowledge is comprised of three parts:  your relationship with Me, promises in the Bible, and past experience of coping successfully during hard times.  Look back on your life, and see how I have helped you through difficult days.  If you are tempted to think, "Yes, but that was then, and this is now," remember who I AM!  Although you and your circumstances may change dramatically, I remain the same throughout time and eternity.  This is the basis of your confidence.  In My Presence you live and move and have your being."  Sarah Young   "Jesus Calling".
I love this devotional, it is applicable to today and whatever comes our way.  Grab His hand girls.
Hugs, Noreen

  1. Ya know...it is just SO...so...true. If we aren't in a difficult place...it will be coming. :-)

We've been walking through a wilderness experience for 4 years....adn recently, a positive change has taken place and it's been so comforting to see God's hand move.

Yet, I have to daily remind myself that HE is in control. Especially when the thoughts creep in that tell me, 'this won't last long'...'just a little while and you'll be BACK on the dirt pile."

God's graciously, and tenderly teaching me...to rest in HIM...as he's TRULY...my only provider.

    Love ya.

  2. Thank you so much for sharing that devotional. So timely ... if not right this minute, soon enough.

I prefer a chick flick with a happy ending ... but some of my favorites include Steel Magnolias and Terms of Endearment, both of which bring on the tears.

Still praying that you'll be able to avoid that bug going around. ;-)

  3. I'm so thankful I know the One who can center me back to a place of peace as "life happens". I'm not shaken by so many "little" things like and even if the really big stuff now I am thankful that He's been training me to stop myself sooner and focus back on Him.
Mama Mia is a great movie to have fun with...otherwise it really depends on the mood of the watchers. We have a lot of chick flicks. And I do love them but I'm not a romantic type in real life...that's my hubby.
Hope you have a grand week!

  6. My favorite chick flick is "How to Make an American Quilt". I could watch that over and over. My mom loved "Mamma Mia" as well - as you know - and I just saw it for the first time a month or so ago. Fun movie! I know why my mom loved it.

  7. If you only lived next door I would be bringing you a beautiful gift today since you definately brought me one thru your words!

HE is my life and I feel so blessed to be a child of the King!
Looking back I see how miraculously He has worked in my life and that drives me to tell the world that HE is the answer.

Movies: Steel Magnolias, Mama Mia, Sweet Home Alabama, Shadowlands

    Blessings, K

  8. Oh I am like you it depends on my mood. Generally I like the happy endings like...Never Been Kissed, Sweet Home Alabama and the like. But I LOVED Steel Magnolias, Terms of Endearments, and Places in the Heart. But Mama Mia just makes me feel good. Must be the age. All I could think of is her jumping on the bed and into that lake like it was nothing and she is older than I am, haha...I loved the devotional too. It is just soo true. And your remark that "it is coming" is also soo true. One thing we can count on for sure is in this world you will have tribulation. Hope you are feeling better. HUGS

  9. Great post and very uplifting as usual
I like funny movies... Can't think of the name of one though (o: I am not fond of watching the same movie twice... maybe years apart... but maybe not even then.
When I am sick I would rather read.

  10. Awesome word today Noreen, I heard a minister say once , that you were either going through something , had gone through something, or would soon be going through something. I have experienced all of the above, but one thing for sure, God was, is and will be faithful. I am so blessed by this, I will soon be going to bed, and will be meditating on this devotion, thank you for sharing.

AS far as chick flicks , I like them all, but love stories are my favorite, especially with happy endings, lol but like you I really like up beat films.
Enjoy your rest tonight, and I hope you are feeling much better.
    Much love,
    Sue

  12. What an encouraging and inspiring post you shared today. What comfort it brings me to know personally the One who truly is in control of all. The part of Prov. 3: 5&6 that is speaking to me lately, is the "lean not on your own understanding" part. Truly, I so often do not understand how He is working in our lives. It is all about Him and His understanding...not mine. Love that comfort. Sure did enjoy reading through your blog. I will be back.
