Fun Family Field Trips

Last Saturday hubby and I joined our oldest daughter's family for a field trip to Wings Over The Rockies Air & Space Museum. The museum has Cockpit Demo Day the second Saturday of every month and this gave us a up close & personal look at the planes. The boys, including hubby, loved climbing aboard and looking at the cock pits. They were all enthralled to see the disabled bombs as well.

It is hard to imagine a grown man climbing into such a tight space.

The girls loved the pedal planes!

What would a museum be without Jedi and X-Wing fighters? This seems to be the boys latest interest and they wanted to just hang out there for a bit.
Throughout the morning, I could only reflect on the dedication of so many Americans who have served our country faithfully. To all those, past and present, I salute you.
Have a blessed day. Hugs, Noreen

A Look At The Past

1950s Sandwich Menu from Woolworth's

Note the complete lack of any mention of hamburger!!!

1950s Sandwich Menu from Woolworth's. ...
Our Generation's Fast Food.

If any of you have doubt about what we kids paid for a coke and a sandwich at

Woolworths (How many don't know what Woolworth's was?)

in the 1950s, here's proof of the era we lived...Can you imagine getting a Banana Split for .25 cents, hot chocolate for .15 cents or apple pie for .15 cents. I'm not even sure our children or grandchildren could make these so cheaply. Those were the simple days, days of innocence and times when children could be children without any fears. I well remember riding my bike across town, to Stanford University, when I was in grade school. We played in the hills and were often out for hours at a time without supervision; I can't imagine that being the case today unless you are blessed to live on the land without neighbors. To those who are raising little ones in this day and age, I pray that somehow you can carve out an area in your life that allow your children to play with wild abandonment, to run free and experience the joy of being in nature. For those who live in the cities, I pray the Lord gives you creative alternatives that allow you to get your children out into nature and enjoy their childhood. Of course a good dose of warmth would help; maybe during winter it is the time to build forts inside and play with Lego's or to go cross country skiing as a family.
Have a blessed weekend enjoying the simple things of life.

Each day there are so many blessings, if we would just stop, acknowledge them and give the Lord the praise due His name. I love the idea of writing them down and this was truly my thoughts when I began this blog~someplace to journal, for my grandkids, what the Lord has done for me.
Today I am especially thankful for the gift of health for our granddaughter, Mackenzie(aka Peanut). Mackenzie was born with GERD and a sensory problem. For the first 2 years of her life she had many, many issues and was in and out of the hospital several times with very few answers on what could be done for her. Finally, through the wisdom of a close friend of mine, our daughter and son-in-law took her to see a specialist here in northern Colorado. After some very expensive tests the doctor determined the root cause of her problems and has treated her with natural supplements. This has made an incredible difference in her life; she is now a healthy two year old engaged totally in every area of life. Such a contrast from the past when she was on adult strength medications that really affected her personality. She still has some sensory issues and probably always will, but it is my miracle, a blessing from above on a family who deserved it. So I count Peanut's health as my Christmas gift and miracle. Our daughtet, is pregnant, now 6 mos., and in the past had many problems with each pregnancy. It is difficult enough with a normal pregnancy to care for three active children but when Peanut wasn't doing well it was even harder on her. This time though through some additional help with a chiropractor, she is doing well. I am so grateful for both of these answers to prayer. I am also thankful to the countless others who have faithfully prayed for our Peanut and her mom; may the Lord richly bless you for your love. I am so grateful to our Abba Father who blessed our lives with each and every grandchild and wonderful daughters and sil's. Again, the song from yesterday resonates through my mind and heart-How Great Is Our God.

How Great Is Our God

HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD

VERSE(1):
The splendor of a King,
clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice,
all the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in light,
and darkness tries to hide
it trembles at his voice,
trembles at his voice

CHORUS(1):
How great is our God,
sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great
How great is our God

VERSE(2):
And age to age He stands
and time is in His Hands
Beginning and the End,
Beginning and the End
The Godhead, three in one
Father, Spirit, Son
the Lion and the Lamb,
the Lion and the Lamb

CHORUS(1):
How great is our God,
sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great,
How great is our God

CHORUS(2)
Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
how great is our God
Name above all names
you are worthy of all praise
and my heart will sing
how great is our God

CHORUS(1):
How great is our God,
Sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great,
How great is our God

In the midst of these uncertain days we live in, we must continually focus on the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We must once again kneel before the throne of Almighty God and cry out to Him in repentance, begging Him for mercy. He hears us and will answer our cry.
Will you trust Him today for all that you are facing, all that you are fearful of. Join me, grab my hand and come before Him. He loves us with an everlasting Love and desires to meet us now.
Hugs, Noreen

To all my faithful friends, Today I encountered a problem that some of you have experienced of late and that is comments left, in a different language, from someone unknown. I remember one of the blogs I follow had the same situation occur-I do not want to make my blog private but need advice on how to curtail this problem. If you are the person leaving the comments in Chinese please stop. Thank you.

From My Library

This Christmas I received two books in my stocking and of course they were my favorite authors because I picked them out myself. They were both easy to read and so thoroughly enjoyable; I've already given one daughter Cindy's book because she loves her writing as well.
Jennifer's book was added to my collection; I have all of her fiction books except the book of recipes and of course her pattern books. I met Jennifer many years ago at the Road To California quilt show. What a delightful young woman she is.

If you happen to live in snow country and can't get outside today pick up a good book and enjoy staying in. Hugs, Noreen

A Song in My Heart

Happy New Year to all my friends~ Hard to believe this is the first Monday ever; boy do the days fly by. This year is full of promise and hope and all we have to do is choose it because gratitude is a choice as is contentment. So much has happened over the last week or so, since we lost our faithful dog Sadie. Never having had an older dog still at home after their companion dies, I didn't know what to expect. I'm never quite sure if Reggie's behavior is grief or is he getting sick? Needless to say my anxiety rises a bit when I worry about him. There are many dear friends who have offered me advice and kind words about dogs going through grief-I just wish you were here with me so I could know. Thank you to Miriam and also to Lynn and Becky for your insight and prayers-more for me than the dog.
So this day I am choosing to trust and hold on, to breathe deep and try to relax. I never thought of myself as high strung or tightly wound but lately I'm seeing more of those family traits than I ever wanted to have. This morning I thought it was so timely to wake up with this song on my heart and I'll be singing it all day.

I Need You More

(Chorus:)
I need You more, more than yesterday
I need You Lord, more than words can say
I need You more, than ever before
I need You Lord
I need You Lord

(Repeat)

(Verse:)
More than the air I breathe
More than the song I sing
More than the next heartbeat
More than anything
And Lord, as time goes by, I will be by your side
Cause I never want to go back to my old life.

Chorus
Verse
Chorus

Right here in Your presence is where I belong
This old broken heart has finally found a home
And I'll never be alone…Chorus…
I need you more…'cause I never want to go back

Blessings to each of you this day, be filled with hope and joy, knowing He has you in the palm of His hand.

Love to each of you.
