From My Library

I received this book free from Bethany House to review; I have not received any compensation or payment for my honest review.  This book is probably one of the most difficult books I've reviewed, for several reasons..  Firstly, it is a 21 day study with questions at the end of each chapter; thus making it a bit slower to read and  I was not familiar with the author either.  There were endorsements from teachers and speakers I was familiar with, which is why I choose to review it.
It is a book divided into three sections:  The Lifestyle of Intimacy, The Lifestyle of Wisdom and The Lifestyle of Revelation;  each section cover seven chapters.  It was biblical, covering both Old Testament and New Testament Prophets as well as the work of the Holy Spirit in Christians today.
If you are interested in Prophetic Ministry I would recommend this book.  I was a bit disappointed because I felt it covered mainly those who have already been called into this work and not those who desire to walk in the anointing today.
It is not a book for everyone, but one I know I will go back to as reference in the future.

Have a wonderful day!

Another Great Book

Karen Kingsbury has been one of my all time favorite authors for years.  Her stories about the Baxter family kept me reading during the years when I was so busy I could barely think. Her latest series, Bailey Flanigan, are such good reads.  Yesterday I sat outside in the afternoon and read.  However, now I'm so anxious  to read the next two in the series that I'm sure hoping my library has the next one.
This afternoon hubby and I are having our eyes checked , which is long overdue.
Today I'm thankful for the year that we had Tim Tebow playing for the Broncos.  I've got to admit my friends, that I've been one of those fans very upset that he was traded. In a perfect world, the Broncos would have kept him to be mentored by Manning.  He did so much for our team and for our state; I know there are a lot of us who will follow him with our loyalty.  I do have to remember though that men may make their plans but God has the last word.  Tim is His man and God has mighty plans for him.  New York's gain is our loss.
Have a wonderful day today!

From My Library

When hubby and I were in Carmel with our friends, Aletha and I went shopping-one of our favorite past times.   I spotted this book on Tasha Tudor and knew I had to have it; there was only one book on Tasha or I probably would have bought more.  In case you don't know Tasha or her art, next time you are at the library see if they have any of her books.  I first discovered her when my oldest daughter, C, had purchased a book on Tasha after we moved to Colorado. In all the years I taught I had never heard her name, imagine that.  I previously had ordered a book on her life, I had to know more of this little lady but never received it.  The book I got in Carmel has so many of her drawings and pictures; I started to read it the other night before our guests arrived.  Tasha was quite a character; an artist, illustrator and author who wrote more than 90 books, including The Secret Garden.  Tasha lived for 75 yrs and raised her own food, wove her family's clothes, and lived off the land.   Her paintings are incredible and worthy of being framed and hung in a home or child's room.  This book is one I will treasure and is on my living room table; I just need to find the time to sit and read it.
Today we have another spring like day-yippee.  Yesterday I went to the gym, walked a mile on the treadmill after my class and then in the afternoon hubby and I went on a three mile bike ride.  Today I'll be spending some time outside with the grands while my girl runs an errand and I'm hoping to walk or bike ride later.  Tomorrow I'll be stitching or reading as the snow is coming back.
Have a wonderful day!

Happy Tueday to you. Today it is a cold, 35 degrees, dreary day and we've already had a few snowflakes falling. I find myself dreaming of springtime and my favorite flowers blooming but let me tell you we are several months away from that.  I had the hardest adjustment, when we first moved here, to not planting until Memorial Day weekend for fear of more frost and snow.  When I'm visiting sites in blogland and seeing beautiful gardens already, it reminds me of living in California.  Our grass is still very brown and most of our trees are bare but I'm thankful that we don't have more snow on the ground right now.
When I visited our friends in Carmel Valley, I took Aletha a book and she quickly ran and got a book for me, which I started reading yesterday. It is a very easy read with lots of photos of dogs; I am enjoying it.

I could tell that yesterday I stretched some muscles that I haven't used in a while,I'm hoping that they adjust quickly.  Today I will do some chores, quilt and run out to get some dogfood at Wal*art.  I just want to snuggle under a quilt and enjoy being inside.  What about you, are you dreaming of spring weather and flowers?
Joy to you~Noreen

From My Bookshelf

Last week I saw this book at the library and checked it out. You all know that I love anything about dogs so this is no surprise; I also got a book about Bette White's work with dogs.  Scent of the Missing is the story of Susannah Charleson and her golden retriever, Puzzle. The stories are true and show the bond and partnership between a human and a working dog and the intricate relationships within the search and rescue community; in this case they are out of Texas.  I have long been interested in SAR(search and rescue) but after reading this book, I have such high regard and respect for the work they do.  The training is much more intense than I ever knew and the work itself is taxing.  This was a book I didn't want to put down and one I'd highly recommend.
Reggie slept well last night which means I did too and I'm thankful for it.  Our day has dawned with overcast skies and we haven't experienced this is awhile; I know walking will be pleasant  this morning.
I hope you are all having a fine week and finding bits & pieces of time to stop and enjoy life.
Blessings, Noreen

A Good Read

A girlfriend from California recently sent me a package that contained this book as well as the dvd Fireproof; this was such a surprise because I hadn't been in communication with her for quite awhile.  This is a quick and easy read but it took me several days due to other projects.  Several years ago I had read Don Piper's book, 90 Minutes in Heaven, and found it so comforting too.  This story occurs in Nebraska but also  covers Denver and several towns within 15 minutes of my house.  Although it is written for adults, I do think that in certain situations this would comfort children who are gravely ill.  If you get a chance, make sure you get your hands on it.
I worked in the yard yesterday and enjoyed the beautiful spring weather but today is raining so I'm grabbing hubby to go to Kohl's for their senior sale.

From My Library

This Christmas I received two books in my stocking and of course they were my favorite authors because I picked them out myself. They were both easy to read and so thoroughly enjoyable; I've already given one daughter Cindy's book because she loves her writing as well.
Jennifer's book was added to my collection; I have all of her fiction books except the book of recipes and of course her pattern books. I met Jennifer many years ago at the Road To California quilt show. What a delightful young woman she is.

If you happen to live in snow country and can't get outside today pick up a good book and enjoy staying in. Hugs, Noreen
