California Dreaming

Happy Friday to you!  Today our weather reminds me so much of northern California, that I began to sing an old song.  See if you recognize it.

All the leaves are brown
(All the leaves are brown)
And the sky is gray
(And the sky is gray)
I've been for a walk
(I've been for a walk)
On a winter's day
(On a winter's day)
I'd be safe and warm
(I'd be safe and warm)
If I was in L.A
(If I was in L.A.)
California dreamin'
(California dreamin') on such a winter's day

This song was a number one hit, sung by the Mamas & the Papas; most anyone who grew up in the 60's knew it.
Normally, we don't get rain here until the spring or summer-so it is weird to have it this morning.  This is one of the storms that is providing moisture to drought stricken Ca., snow will arrive this afternoon.  Like most of the country, I am ready for spring!  If I had a good book, I would spend the day reading; I do have some on our IPad though, so might just do that.
Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!
Blessings,
Noreen

  1. I remember that song well. I loved it. All the music of the 60's and 70's was so different from the music of today.

Have a great weekend and stay dry!

  8. I love that song ... and Monday Monday, too!

I suspect that the snow that we're supposed to get Wednesday is the rain that you're getting now?

  9. Oh yes, I remember that song well, Noreen.... and watching the Mamas & the Papas singing it on the Ed Sullivan Show (lip-syncing it, I should say! *lol*). Good memories from a much less worrisome time of my life. I wish I could be a young person again... if only for just a little while.... and have my parents & my brother to talk with once again too.

    Love~ Andrea

  10. Hi Noreen,

I can sing this song word for word. Love it! I have missed so many people during my sporadic blogging. It's been a difficult year to live through. I've scrolled down and read the last few postings here. Love the pics of your grand kids. They remind me of little cats in the pics resting on top of cupboards and things. Adorable.

Thank you for keeping me in your prayers. You are such a beautiful soul.

    Love you,
    Alleluiabelle

  11. Love that song, but the one I have been clinging to the last week or so is
    'Here Comes The Sun'.
I have been humming it and playing it and dreaming it. Today was wonderful here and hope you get it soon too. Thanks for stopping by and seeing all the sun we got!

  12. I'm not ashamed to admit that I still love the Mamas and Papas. Even ABBA. I have "California Dreaming" on my iPod on a travel playlist for car trips.

We had a couple of inches of snow last night and today the temperature rose to the 50s and made quick work of the snow.

  16. I know the words to that song very well Noreen! I'm sure you are ready for spring. It's actually getting very warm here in Phoenix (a bit too early for me). I hope you are well.

    Blessings and love,
