Small Town Parade, USA

Happy Labor Day! This morning bright and early, hubby took chairs and a blanket over to a street near us, where our annual Labor Day Parade was going to take place. This parade could be in any small town USA; it is one of the things we love about our town. I am only sharing a bit of the parade; you will notice the focus on Agriculture-specifically tractors and horses.  There are also floats that honor our military, past and present.  It covers about 6 miles and lasts more than two hours. Here is our daughter and her youngest.

This fellow was a young 89 yr old WWII Combat Veteran. It is hard to read his sign but he got a round of applause from the folks watching.

This following picture is for our friends, Murphy and Stanley, two great mini-doodles. Looks like it could be one of  your cousins.

Loved how this truck and float were decorated-with sunflowers, so cute.

Apparently, this was one of the many activities in our town that he liked. The Hot Air Balloon dawn patrol failed, the car show failed, the craft fair failed. Maybe it was the variety of things in the parade. We did miss having Carrie and her family with us; seems they always take vacation at this time of year.  The rest of the day will be relaxed until dinner; Kim and her family will be coming over for a bbq and games.
I hope you've had a wonderful weekend and great Labor Day!
Blessings,
Noreen & Hunter

  1. We just got home from out little town's Labor Day Parade (Louisville). Much the same as yours, including the square dancers. Luckily, not too many politicians this year.

  4. It sounds like a lovely Labor Day! I love parades, but haven't been to one for years. (My hubby doesn't like them!) It looks like it was fun. I love the WWII vet...good for him to be there! Enjoy the barbecue with the family. :)

  9. I love this post, being a small-town girl originally from New England, I have a soft spot in my heart for parades like this one! Oh, the sweet memories that are stirred thinking about all the 4th of July and Memorial Day parades I have witnessed and loved. Thanks for sharing yours... your babies are just beautiful, too! :) Hugs~
