It's Outdoor Wednesday and I thought I'd share what we woke up to today~it's a winter wonderland.  Hubby and I measured and we have 8" and it is still snowing; nearby cities have between 12-14".
We donned our silk long-johns, wool socks, snow pants, ski sweaters, ski jackets and headed outside to clear the snow off the trees.  The news last night said there were going to be major problems for all the trees due to the heavy snow and sure enough they were right.  We quickly got as much snow off the branches as we could and noticed we lost a couple of small limbs from our Aspens.  We also cleared off a patch from the lawn for our dear Reggie and it surprised me how long he wanted to stay outside with us.  Of course, he follows us,especially me, everywhere but it would have been so cold on his feet and arthritic legs.

 The tree on the right is not a weeping Cherry but actually a Crabapple.  We call this type of snow, so packed with moisture, Sierra Sludge.  It sure makes clearing driveways and walkways a much more difficult task.
I can truly say the snow is so beautiful but I know I've lost all my Mums; oh well.  There was one other husband and wife team out shoveling as well and we said good morning to them.  In our development, we have to clear the sidewalks-not all folks do, guess they have to hurry off to work.
I'm thankful that the weather forecast for tomorrow is sunshine and no snow.  I've got my ladies study tomorrow and the idea of driving in wet snow does not appeal to me; I best get used to it though.
Have a wonderful day my friends.

  1. Oh thank you for sharing....I LOVE snow. I knew you guys were to get snow...and that is really a GOOD SNOW! Enjoy the beauty for those of us who don't get the fun! I'm thinking it might be time to invest in a snow blower. Even drier snows can wear me slick and hubby really shouldn't shovel anymore. ENJOY!

  2. It sounds like typical CO weather. I thought I heard the weatherman say it was the powder type. Well, they can't always get it right, but we know the Lord always does.
    I'm like you and don't care for the wet sludge either.
    It is good to hear that Reggie is still following you around. What a merciful Lord we have :)
    Hope your ladies Bible study is full of the Lord's presence.
    Blessings & love!

    You beat me! I love the snow and it just looks so beautiful all around your home. I have a bet with someone that it will snow here before Halloween, but I think I'm going to lose. I guess we'd better get use to it!

  5. That snow is beautiful! I love snow ... but maybe not quite that much snow at one time. ;-) I can't wait for our first real snow. So good to hear that Reggie enjoyed himself outside with the two of you. {{hug}}

  11. The picture of your deck, with the chairs, is really interesting to look at. The snow just enhances each fold and dimple.

    Stay warm!

  13. Oh my goodness! What a surprise to open your blog to find snow! I'm not ready yet but living in Michigan, it's clearly on my horizon. I want to let you know that the Christmas tree quilt pattern is in one of my favorite books, "Make Room for Christmas Quilts" by Nancy J. Martin. The copyright is 2002 but you might be able to find it used on Amazon. It's a really good book to have. I've made a number of the quilts in it. Blessings to you!

  17. Wow! It's beautiful, but I'm not envious. LOL! It's hard to believe that there could be snow on the ground anywhere in the states when it's 80 degrees here today.
    I wanted to thank you for stopping by today. I loved your comment and I think I may have way to many parent-teacher conferences. LOL!
    Have a lovely day.
