Happy Monday Friends~ I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I got most of the baby quilt top done and just have to add on one more border today and then begin to sandwich it...yippee.
I am not a big fan of watching sports on t.v. Never have been but yesterday we watched the Super Bowl. All I can say is "What about those Saints"....what a game and I actually enjoyed watching it.
Part of the reason I watched the entire game is that my dear sil asked us to fill out a research questionnaire on the ads and of course we would do anything for her. So I loved the game but was so disappointed in this years ads. In the past I've loved the Coke ads as well as the Bud ads-not for the beverage but because they always have done such touching ads. This year there was only one Bud ad that I said "ahh" to and the coke ads weren't much better. So all in all I think the advertisers dropped the ball this year. The half time show was a disappointment as well. Somehow watching grandpas act like they did 30 yrs ago doesn't seem to appealing to me.
Having said all this I was very excited for the Saints though-their city needs encouragement after all they've been through since Katrina.
Have a wonderful day today and stay warm. We've got snow on the ground and hopefully no more will fall today.
Hugs, Noreen

Hi Noreen,
ReplyDeleteGlad to see your quilt is coming together so nicely. The closer you get it sort of spurs you on doesn't it, not that I know about quilting but with any kind of project really.
It's the ones that you feel that are so slow and you feel like you are hardly seeing progress that bog me down.
Yea, how bout those Saints!! We watched to and really were not rooting for either team, but sort of felt the Colts coach was a wee
bit overconfident by some of his comments, and it never pays to be overconfident. It was nice that the Saints won for the same reason you said, I was happy for them too.
Hope you don't get more snow cause I know most everyone has had there fill that I am hearing from. Can't say I blame them at all.
Did you get to see the Tim Tebow
commercial they made such a big deal over in the media. If not go the www.focusonthefamily.com and you can see it and see an interview of his mom and Dad, it is really neat. He is a really neat christian young man.
Well, stay warm and dry hon,
Blessings, Nellie
We watched the game with friends in Lake Havasu City! A little watching and a whole lot of catching up on the past twenty years or so!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you about the commercials. And YEAH FOR THE SAINTS!!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm so blessed by your friendship and prayers for my sister and all of us Noreen. I dropped in to say I love ya dear one.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Alleluiabelle
I watched too... not because i love football... but because we did it with friends. I was disappointed in the commercials too. I could not understand why they chose that for a half time show... so strange.
ReplyDeleteYes, Noreen, we watched the game here. For two reasons really, first time for the Saints to make it to the SuperBowl and the Tim Tebow( ok, the Tebow ad more for my part than dh). Both were great!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the other ads, not really any of them...well, maybe the doritos ad about 'house rules'(with the little boy saying stay away from my mama & stay away from my doritos). But the rest were obscene to dumb.
Blessings,
Miriam
I hope you post pics of your quilt as I would love to see it. I always did want to learn, but never did get around to it. The Super Bowl was on at our house of course, but I never did watch anything. haha The guys all said it was a great game. The Saints winning was nice. Have a wonderful week. Hugs, Debbie
ReplyDeleteARe you going to post a picture of the quilt?
ReplyDeleteAnd I hardly got to see any of the game as I was in church last night and home pretty late. So I missed even the commercials. But like you I heard they weren't that great this year either.
Thanks for your comments today. Hope your day is going well!
I can't wait to see pics of the quilt!
ReplyDeleteOf course we were thrilled for the Saints since we practically live in the Who Dat Nation. You cannot imagine what its been like since the win. The air has been electric and black and gold everywhere.
The ads were a huge disappointment, but I was grateful at least they had clothes on,except for that brief view of the stomach. The lyrics were clean and not disgusting. Soooo for that I am glad.
I got a kick out of the Dorito/dog collar ad. I thought it was funny.
Many people have commented that they are tired of hearing about Katrina with the Saints. If they lived in this area they may not have that view. The Saints had to relocate to Texas after the damage to their training camp and the Dome. They debated about coming back to New Orleans. But they did and most of the Saint's players have been very generous with their time and money to help rebuild the city they love.
