From The Library

Happy Monday All~Oh what a glorious day it is; to be alive in a time such as this and what hope we have in Jesus. When I was a young christian, a friend had an incredible home library and I was able to read so many christian classics by such greats as Amy Carmichael, Corrie ten Boom, Hannah Hurnard and biographies of great men and women of faith. These books influenced my faith and strengthened me. Last week when I was at my oldest daughter's house, I borrowed a book that I hadn't read on Corrie ten Boom entitled "NOT I, BUT CHRIST". Most of the chapters were taken from Corrie's radio messages from the late 1960's. For those of you who may not know who Corrie is, she was a prisoner in Revensbruck concentration camp run by Hitler's army. The horror that she lived through was beyond what many of us know or will ever experience but she, through the power of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Spirit, was able to forgive one of the guards from the camp. This book so reflects Corrie's great love for God and His being Victor over all.
I am not quite through half of this book but it is so refreshing and helps one to really put things in perspective. If you haven't read any of her books, a good place to start would be Tramp For The Lord and I'm sure most library's have it.
It is very cold and foggy here this morning so I plan on staying inside for a bit until it warms up.
Have a wonderful day and keep your eyes looking heavenward.
Blessings, Noreen

  1. I read her books along time ago. Guess it would be good to reread them. This book you mentioned sounds like it would be very good. Happy chilly Monday to you. I think the sun will come out later. We can always hope anyway (o:

  4. Good Afternoon Dear Friend,
Yes I am still alive and kicking. I can't tell you how it feels to be able to visit again.
Yesterday was a great day and today is as well, "Giving Thanks to the Lord".
I read The Hiding Place many years ago, and could not put it down. I was so moved by that book! The one you mentioned today I haven't read, but will now try and get it.
Please stay warm, enjoy your fire and this wonderful book.
Thank you for your prayers, you will never know how much they have meant.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  6. Hi Sweet Nor!! I actually have only read excerpts from her books. I might have to dig into one of these!

Have I told you that I love how you write?? You and Jess are both gifted that way gal!!

It's dreary and cool here, too. Aside from the Dr. this morning I am staying in, too. Great report, though! He said 3 more weeks and I can resume all of my activities full on! WOOHOO!! Until then he said if it doesn't hurt, it's ok to do it! The last couple of days have been better so I know it won't be long!!

    Love and big hugs!!

  9. Morning Noreen,
I love to read too, don't read quite as much as I used to, but I still do. I usually have about 3 books going at the same time, and read them according to my mood.
I have heard a lot about Corrie ten Boom. She was an amazing lady.
Never read any of her books tho,
but have seen and heard a lot about her and what happened to her, also the story about the guard coming up to her after she spoke at a church. It is hard to imagine how anyone lived thru that horrible terror. We saw a movie not too long ago about the holocaust on tv, and it was just hard to watch, I can't even begin to imagine how terrorized those poor people were. The fear alone seems like it could kill them.
Well, it is dreary and rainy here
again too. Didn't expect that today, but oh well.
Hope I am as energetic today as I was yesterday. Accomplished a lot yesterday, and would love to do that again today, but we will see.
I Want to do some reading today too, but I can't do it right when I get up if I am still a lil sleepy or I will fall back asleep.
I hate that too, cause I prefer to do my devotionals early in the morning, but hubby and I do pray and I read an online devotional that our whole church is doing.
    So that is all good!!
Well, you have a swimmingly good day my friend,
    Appreciate you sweetie,
    Nellie
Still need to check on those chef hats!! I was thinking Sams might have them, just need to call cause they have a lot of restaurant supplies. Wish me luck!! lol

  10. Noreen,
I love those books, also. You can find youtube videos of Corrie speaking. Have you ever read books called The Trailblazers Series by Dave & Neta Jackson? They are about missionaries and some about historical people written for youth. So many missionary stories strengthen my walk with the Lord.
    Love,
    Miriam
