For many in our country fall still seems like a long way off~especially in northern California where temp's are hitting the high 90's in San Francisco but here in beautiful Colorado fall is definitely in the air. The nights are cool and the mornings crisp but the days are still so comfortable. The Aspens are turning a golden hue and the Elk are frolicking in the high country. Front porches and yards are displaying fall decorations as well as homes. Sweet smells
fill the homes, candles are lit and days grow shorter. When we home schooled, fall meant a time for Yankee candles to come out of the closet and we would spend out days reading and learning while enjoying lots of apple goodies. This time of year brings so many wonderful memories to the surface that I can't resist filling our home with autumn scents.
Yesterday dear hubby was mowing the lawns at our home and the rental we had been in~we won't turn it over to the landlord for another week or so. After he had mowed two lawns across the street, I offered to help him with our front lawn; which isn't huge and looked do-able for me. He declined and I went back to house cleaning but a short time later he came in and asked if I still wanted to mow the lawn. Now ladies, my mind still thinks I'm 15 years younger than I am so I quickly said "of course". Our back lawn is huge and I haven't mowed it before but let me tell you it about did me in! I got through about 2/3 of the way and hubby sweetly took over; when he finished I told him I think we should look at a self-propelled mower or a riding lawnmower. In all honestly, he did say it was harder because the grass was wet but I tell you I felt like a wimp! Our sil said, after laughing about my comments, that we can use their self-propelled one since they now have a riding one. Yippee!
Yesterday one of my favorite songs kept floating through my head but I couldn't find the lyrics. I mentioned it to one of my blogging buddies and see passed them onto me....so I want to share them with you.
REFINER'S FIRE (Brian Doerksen)
Purify my heart
Let me be as gold
And precious silver
Purify my heart
Let me be as gold,Pure gold
Refiner's fire
My heart's one desire
Is to be holy
Set apart for You Lord
I choose to be holy
Set apart for You my Master
Ready to do Your will
Purify my heart
Cleanse me from within
And make me holy
Purify my heart
Cleanse me from my sin
Deep within
Be blessed this weekend, seek Him first!
Hugs, Noreen

Hi Noreen,
ReplyDeleteLovely post, I agree those memories come rolling in don't they, wonderful to have!! I too,
love yankee candles of pumpkin pie
and pumpkin pie itself. We just got our first one from Sams and it is delicious. We don't eat the crust tho, cause of the bad oils,
but it is still yummy.
Glad you will be getting a self-propelled mower, that lawn mowing is a real chore. I mow ours while hubby weed eats and edges but we have a rider, so that make it easy.
Glad you are enjoying the smells and feel of Fall. I can only say I am enjoying that insided the house! lol It is pretty hot here today!
I like that song too. The refiners fire can be pretty hot sometimes but I sure like the results.
Have a great weekend,
Blessings, Nellie
Noreen, the words to that song are beautiful. Oh I wish I could stop by and help you mow your yard. I miss the autumn colors and the changing leaves. It's still very HOT in Phoenix. The a/c is working :) but it's still triple digits. Enough already!
ReplyDeleteHi Noreen,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are enjoying some nice, fall weather! As you said, we are still having some warm weather....looking forward to cooler temps! I enjoy Yankee candles too, and need to get out some of my fall candles. Thank you for sharing the song, it is one of my favorites too. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I love that song, it's awesome. I hope you were able to rest after working so hard on mowing the lawn yesterday. Hugs..
ReplyDeleteNoreen,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting and leaving the kind comment.
I hope you have a blessed weekend and Sunday!
Please visit me again, and I will look forward to seeing pictures of your work.
We were cutting a tree down today...we being my 2 sons and their Dad. I offered to do some chain saw cutting of the log. Not so much fun. I gave the saw back after one little(well it was about 10 inches across) log was cut.
ReplyDeletei love that song! its one of my favorites :-) also love the new fall colors on your blog!!
