Living Science

Yesterday Denver's Science Museum held one of its free admissions day. As a large group our family decided to head into the city and explore the museum. I can tell you that it is much bigger than the museum in San Francisco and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. When I was young I was a "tomboy" by many standards and grew up playing with insects, lizards and a few snakes. I can honestly tell you that I enjoy many creepy crawlies but abhor rodents such as rats. One of our grand daughters has a phobia about spiders so this nana decided that it might be beneficial to hold a large tarantula. I'm not sure I've ever held one before and I was fine with it. That is my hand; then our four year old decided that she would like to try as well...but it didn't go quite as smoothly~not to worry though no harm came to the very large spider.
We all had a wonderful time and learned a lot about our new home state. I hope our grand children will all remember, when they are older, how their nana was great fun.

  1. Hi Noreen,
How cool to hold the spider. I haven't ever held one either, but definitely would. House spiders do creep me out, though!

With four brothers me and my sister also had a lot of tomboy in us. We used to catch lizards, and play with snakes, too. My brothers had a pet indigo for awhile, and one of their friends had a baby boa constrictor that I got to play with a couple of times.

Oh and I forgot to tell you...I'm
5'2 1/2 inches tall!!! You said how tall you were and I just laughed!!

    Love and hugs,
    Becky

  3. We go to the free days at the zoo and love that. When I read about the museum free day I was going to talk hubby into going....then I forgot all about it (o: Glad you had fun. Did she scream? Cry? I think mine would all handel it differently.

  4. You are one cool lady...there is no way I would hold that spider. If it was C, she'd be screaming and gone. I don't mind snakes though.

Glad you had a wonderful time. Hugs..

  7. Mom,
You are just the BEST - helping to get Peanut more comfortable and giving Shan the encouragement she needed to hold it herself. What a NANA!!!
