Ring Of Kerry

Good Morning to you! It seems like everyday I could spend in front of the computer, posting and trying to keep a journal for ourselves. Just to think when we get home, we need to organize all the pictures and put them on a disk. Hopefully, going back to my blog will help me remember the details more clearly. I've got my journal back out for my folder in the car, so I can jot everything/place down in there as well. The days seem to run together and remembering what we did on which day is the challenge. So, on Sunday we drove the Ring of Kerry; we had thought we'd drive both it and the Dingle Peninsula, but after looking at the map we decided to just tackle the Ring of Kerry-which was a good idea because we drove over six hours. Here are the photos for you to view. The land is much like you'd see on a postcard, what I think of when I think of Ireland. I will say that once again the land draws me; this is hard to put into words that accurately express it. Many people are drawn to living in big cities, metropolitan areas; for hubby and I this has never been the case. We have lived in towns and cities, but truth be known I'd rather live on land that has room between neighbors. Since we've lived in Colorado, I realized that I am drawn to the wide open spaces. Here this has happened again; I'm not sure whether it is because this is the land of my ancestors, or due to the dad's influence over me. My first years growing up were on acreage, though it wasn't a farm as most think of them, we raised animals. Here as I see the open pastures and farms, covered with sheep, my heart finds a yearning. At this stage in life, we will not farm or ranch, but I could see myself here amongst the sheep with several border collies by my side. Yesterday, we met a fellow(another story)that is a jaunty(drives a horse and cart for toursists)and he considers farming his primary life. He has sheep and yes he has border collies. He was saying that in many countries, farmers leave the country to find better land or an easier life. For his family, they have remained on the same land for generations, farming. This first photo is a ruin on the side of a road, just can't resist stopping and getting pics.
Most of the rest of the photos are the hillsides around the Ring of Kerry.

Doesn't this just look like a postcard!

It is amazing how beautiful it is here.  We've talked about the "if" we come back, we would want to stay outside of towns more in the country.  We are adjusting to the driving, thank you Lord!
We would probably not come back to Cork, though I'm not sure we saw the city centre; it was just too far to walk to anyplace that we could find shops and pubs.  We love Killarney, but traffic was pretty intense.  The adventure we had yesterday was such fun and I'll post about it tomorrow.
May the sun shine on your day.
Hugs,  Noreen
