It's Doggy Dental Month

Happy Friday to you! If you are a dog owner, you are probably aware that this month is Doggy Dental Month. Back when I was growing up, we never worried about our dogs teeth; they always had bones that helped remove their tarter. In today's world, it is common practice that dogs get their teeth cleaned annually. This is not cheap, which is why we still give our dogs raw beef knuckle bones. Thankfully however, Mr. Chewy is promoting treats that help keep our dogs teeth free of tarter. Yesterday afternoon Hunter got a package from his favorite company. It is always such a hard decision to make on what product to sample, this month wasn't any easier. We feed Hunter Blue Buffalo dry kibble and so I decided to go with their product.

I love the size of the bones, just perfect for Hunter. He was so excited that he immediately took the bone and hid it.
Blue Buffalo always makes such good products!  Here are some of the details:
" Blue Bones Natural Dental Chew Bones come in a variety of sizes suitable for any breed, and are a tasty, vegetarian-friendly treat that's easy to digest, cleans teeth, and freshens doggy bad-breath. The berries and vegetables are packed with antioxidants.
Key Benefits
  • Small size recommended for dogs between 15-25 pounds
  • Glucosamine and chondroitin promotes good joint health in dogs
  • Blue Bones Natural Dental Chews are made without wheat, a common trigger for allergies
  • Taurine supports the heart and guards against cardiovascular disease
  • Vitamin A, C, and E supplements boost the immune system
  • Calcium from alfalfa helps build strong bones"
  • Made in the USA.
Hunter already knows where I keep them and is wanting another one today. I've also just ordered some treats for him that he's already taste tested. Mr. Chewy is a wonderful company! Hunter gives these treats 4 paws up and gives Mr. Chewy a diamond rating for their quality of products, service and blogger review program.
I hope you have a great day and a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
Noreen & Hunter

  1. Our Abby had IBS and wasn't allowed anything other than her prescription food ... which meant we were paying $$ for teeth cleaning on a regular basis. And you're right - that's expensive! Good for you to be diligent about keeping Hunter's teeth clean so you can avoid having to subject him to teeth cleaning (and can save $$).

  2. I have trouble finding something for small dogs! Charlie is only 8 lbs. I have tried a couple different ones, but they are too hard for him to chew or he coughs hard after he has one, meaning he can't digest them. I am also having trouble finding a hard food small enough for him. He gets a lot of fine grind canned food. I have to buy the puppy one in Pedigree or he gets a runny stool with the adult version. He is so much harder to find food for than Bebe was, but Bebe was 12 lbs. Bebe could do the Pedigree dental sticks with no problems. I even took a hammer to them to make the smaller, but it didn't help much.

  6. Noreen, Your little puffball of a dog is so cute. So white and clean. I really hate to see dogs so fat they can not move. That is not healthy. Hope you are doing well too. Blessings for a great weekend, xox, Susie

  10. I can't believe that it has been a year since I had my doggies teeth cleaned! Shsss...that went by quickly! I'll have to get some of those dental bones to tide us over until I can afford to have his teeth cleaned again! Blessings, Cindy

  11. I just received my Chewy order the other day and haven't given it to the girls just yet. We are reviewing the
Blue chews too. The girls have both been suffering from some sort of flu and just have not quite recovered yet. Chloe is a couple of days behind LadyBug and LadyBug is just about herself now...so we are giving it a few more days before they try new treats! Great review...I agree with you. Blue has great stuff!

  13. We love our Blue Bones! We don't hide things - we like to enjoy them right away. Does your mom brush your teeth, Hunter? We come running as soon as we hear our mom open the toothbrush drawer -- we just love it!
