Pumpkin Treats

Happy Tuesday to you! Have I mentioned how much I love Fall; it is my favorite time of year, but there is one draw back-it is the season of snow that follows it. One of my favorite scents is pumpkin in any form. Hunter also likes pumpkin and sweet potatoes and so I decided to try a new dog biscuit that contains both pumpkin and cranberries-another of his favorites. It came last week and he seemed so excited about it.

We especially liked the size and soft oven baked feel.  Hunter does not like large or hard dog biscuits.

I was excited with Hunter's initial reaction; however, I was disappointed that he dropped it and wouldn't have anything to do with it.  I broke it in half, but he wouldn't eat it.  He smelled it and just left it; Hunter is very sensitive with scents and often turns away from something that smells different to him. I have tried repeatedly and also given other family dogs the treats and they love these treats; so it is just that Hunter is very picky about foods and treats.
Post-script~Hunter has decided these treats aren't so bad after all; he finally ate one, from his food dish, after I repeatedly told him no he couldn't have any other treats. So there you have it-I have one spoiled rotten dog that I love with all my heart.
I love that they are grain free and are made here in the U.S.

Merrick Backcountry Treats

Fed-Ex had a delivery for our house on Saturday and both Hunter and Lily seemed to know it was for them; rather for Hunter. Each month Sydney, at Mr. Chewy, gives us a wide variety to choose from and this months treats were no different. We've given Hunter products by Merrick in the past and he always loves them. Another Great Product from Mr. Chewy

Happy Friday to you! I hope you've had a splendid week and gotten things accomplished so that you can rest and relax this weekend. Once again, Sydney at Mr. Chewy has provided us with a fantastic product, free of charge for our testing and review. You all know how picky Hunter is and often we get treats and he'll eat it at first, but later refuses. However, this months treat was different; Hunter loves it as a treat or a supplement to his kibble. I've given him several each day; I've varied the timing-it is either just as a treat or mixed in with his kibble. Now that Lily is here with us for the weekend, she'll be getting them too. Happy Tuesday to you! I hope your week has started on a good note; today I am heading south to Longmont to meet two friends, who used to blog, for lunch. We used to get together every two-three months, but it has been quite a bit longer since our last social.
 Today, I want to share the wonderful monthly treats from Mr.Chewy. It is always such a tough choice to decide what to pick, because they simply have the best items available. I decided to pick a Dual Brush by Furminator. Even though Hunter is groomed every six weeks, the boy can get some mats in his hair. We use a special spray-in detangler(yes, it sound like a human product), but he still gets some. I do have to bathe him between groomings or he just gets pretty smelly. Since he sleeps on our bed, I prefer not to have the dirt and odor around. The brush is two side, one with soft brush and the other side is a medium pin brush. The package states that it helps remove Mats, tangles, and loose hair.

This is the hair that we got from Hunter after his bath this weekend. It isn't much, but the brush did get rid of some mats on his ears.

Not only did Sydney send us this great brush but she also included a treat for Hunter. We choose Primal Jerky chicken nibs, training treats for dogs and bite size treats for cats. This product is made in the USA and the chicken raised without antibiotics or added hormones. We give the company 10 stars for this quality.

These treats are the perfect size for either training or to add to kibble.  In the morning, Hunter gets kibble, both Blue Buffalo Freedom grain-free and Wild Calling Bison Meal Recipe.  A friend recommended the Wild Calling so we are transitioning Hunter to the Bison, which he has enjoyed in other treats.  In addition to the kibble, I add in the jerky nibs, freeze dried Bison and Ideal Balance Breakfast Medleys, which look like miniature waffles.  Hunter eats all of his kibble by days end and in the evening he generally gets some cut up baked chicken. 
I do need to place an order with Mr. Chewy; I can tell you that the products are delivered quicker than any other company I've ordered from. There customer service is outstanding and we give Mr. Chewy a Diamond rating.  WE also rate this brush and the treats both 10 stars.

Yum Yum From Orijen and Mr. Chewy

It's a perfect Friday here in Colorado. Sun is shining, sky is blue and the world looks good. The promise of spring is in the air and Hunter is one happy boy; the reason is because another monthly goody came yesterday from Mr. Chewy.   Hunter seems to recognize the box when it is delivered and always after me to show him what is in it. I love how he climbed into the box to investigate.

I wanted to get a photo of the size of treat but didn't, however they are perfect for him. Hunter loves all freeze dried treats and would make a meal out of them, if I let him.

You can tell that he is asking for more; a great sign that this is a definite repeat. Sometimes he seems interested in the treats the first time, but then won't eat them after. He already has had two helpings and sat wanting more. I will have to see if Orijen makes freeze dried dog food.

These treats are pure and natural and offer a Whole Prey meat that the bag says our dogs will thrive on.  Made in Canada, the Bison are raised free range and 100% pure Bison.. They are low calorie and caborhydrate free.  I can tell you that I plan to check out their kibble too.
Hunter says these treats are "over the moon and back", he rates them 5 Stars.

On a side note, thank you all for your prayers and thoughts for the sister of my heart-she came through surgery and was already eating last night; they are hoping she'll be released today.  There is quite a difference in the recover from the DaVinci procedure and the traditional hysterectomy.  We are so thankful that she will be home soon; we just can't imagine life without her bubbly and loving self.  
I am still trying to get around to visit, but often find that after several errands each day I am worn out-so know that even if I don't leave a comment, I'm still checking in with you all.  Have a blessed weekend.

It's Doggy Dental Month

Happy Friday to you! If you are a dog owner, you are probably aware that this month is Doggy Dental Month. Back when I was growing up, we never worried about our dogs teeth; they always had bones that helped remove their tarter. In today's world, it is common practice that dogs get their teeth cleaned annually. This is not cheap, which is why we still give our dogs raw beef knuckle bones. Thankfully however, Mr. Chewy is promoting treats that help keep our dogs teeth free of tarter. Yesterday afternoon Hunter got a package from his favorite company. It is always such a hard decision to make on what product to sample, this month wasn't any easier. We feed Hunter Blue Buffalo dry kibble and so I decided to go with their product.

I love the size of the bones, just perfect for Hunter. He was so excited that he immediately took the bone and hid it.

Another Great Treat from Mr. Chewy

Happy Monday to you! Saturday a package arrived for Hunter; I think he is used to getting the monthly treats from Mr. Chewy. Hunter is a very big fan of Jerky and I am always on the lookout for a product made in the USA. I can't believe that some companies, like Purnina, still have products being made in China. With all the dog deaths that occurred from Jerky made there, you'd think a reputable company would stop selling it. When I saw this product by a company that makes it in the U.S., I jumped at the chance to try it.

Hunter's Christmas Present from Mr. Chewy

Happy Monday friends, I hope you had a wonderful weekend and got some things accomplished for Christmas. Hunter received a package last week in the mail and was so excited about it; some wonderful treat awaited him from Mr.Chewy.

These treats are so different from any Hunter has received before and he was very excited to give them a taste.

He immediately wanted to take his treat and savor it, plus get away from me, in case I decided he only needed a little taste.

Pumpkin Treats

Happy Tuesday to you! While I did spend yesterday afternoon baking treats for bible study today, I am sharing about Hunter's October samples that arrived yesterday. I did bathe him yesterday, but didn't spend a long time brushing him out-so that is why he looks a bit scruffy. Here he is investigating the bag of treats in the box; some of his friends go crazy when they get their packages in the mail, but Hunter just tries to get the scent and sometimes pull the bag out.

These treats are so cute-remind me of children's cookies.

Because pumpkin is so good for our pups, I was really hoping that Hunter would love these.  The drawback is that they are very hard cookies and he reacted the way I thought he might-he tasted one and that was it.  In fact, to be honest, I almost didn't request them this month because of that fact.  I love everything about Grandma Lucy's, especially that this is a California based company.  I know many of our friends are going to be getting doggy gift bags with these goodies.

Mr. Chewy

As many of you know, we are followers of Mr. Chewy and love their blogger program. Yesterday, Hunter got a box at our front door. It is almost like he knows that the box will contain items for him. Although this months samples were canned food, he seemed interested. We choose to sample Merrick Limited Edition Homecoming Holiday grain free food.

After I opened the can he was very interested and even gave it a taste test.  Typically, Hunter doesn't like canned food unless it is the really inexpensive brands that offer no nutritional benefits.  He doesn't typically  do anything but walk away when he smells canned food but he gave it a taste test,so it was a good sign.

As you can tell, he was mighty impressed with this food.   This flavor has Chicken, Sweet Potatoes, Peas, Butternut Squash in a Gravy.  I am very impressed because it is not only grain free, but natural.  Another added benefit is that my picky pup loved it.  Hunter gives Merrick Homecoming Holiday food a:
