Happy Tuesday to you! On Saturday I headed south, to visit with some girlfriends that I originally got to know through blogland. Unfortunately, neither gals blog anymore but we do try to get together every three-six months to catch up.
It was a gorgeous day and we went on a walking tour through the Historic Homes in West Longmont. This area was settled more than 100 years ago by pioneers from Chicago. The homes in this area are Craftsman, Queen Anne, Four Square, Farmhouse and many other variations. The tour was a fund raiser for a local charter school and in each home were arts and crafts. The area is centered around Thompson Park, where it is said the original woman ordered trees from Chicago, planted them and then each day walked to the river to get water for them. Many of the homes were decorated in period style; I also loved seeing individual touches throughout.
This window frame is a great way to display family photos.
Not on the tour but I loved the brick!
As we walked past this home, I fell for the porch decor-especially the black Scottie.
Isn't this gate gorgeous and oh the flaming tree makes my heart sing.
Love this chandelier !
Notice the roof color variation.
This fireplace, circa early 1900's, was in the master bedroom-love it. Not quite so sure about the t.v. next to it though.
Love this antique dress and purse.
We had a delightful time together, enjoyed lunch and then hit the local store Real Deals. Love that place! Got some Christmas decorations and then headed home. It couldn't have been a nicer day.
Hope you have a great Tuesday.
Hugs, Noreen

I like those front porches, and also the gorgeous fireplace in one of the bedrooms. How neat that a lady planted the trees in the park and went to the river to get water for them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun tour! And yes, that chandelier is gorgeous! I wish they had hid that tv during the tour; kindof ruins the whole look of that wonderful fireplace corner!
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures...funny how you saw things my eyes passed over. I think carrying a camera and taking pictures actually helps you look for more interesting stuff!! (o: Loved the time spent with you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day that must have been - time spent with friends and touring such beautiful homes.

What a wonderful area. I love going on homes tours. We built a new home 13 years ago but it has a large front porch and we LOVE to sit out there. I find the blogging world so fun. I rarely post anything, yesterday was the first time since June....lol, but I have stayed connected with 3 ladies around the country from my first blogging year a long while ago. Non of us blog anymore but what wonderful friendships, even over the miles. The world of technology can be so wonderful some times.
ReplyDeleteHi Noreen!
ReplyDeleteHow funny that we both did the same thing on Saturday! It looks like you had a great time too. I wish I could have taken pictures inside, but I really enjoyed seeing yours.
We love going through homes like these too. Ooops, I meant mom meant to say that BOL!
