On Being Thankful

Over a year ago, after reading Ann @ Holy Experience on Thankful Lists, I began purposely looking at the world through new eyes. Shortly there after I also began my blog because I truly desire to cultivate an attitude of gratitude. During these summer months when busy days have overtaken hubby and I, I have forgotten to stop, look and listen to the all that my Lord has blessed me with. Mind you, I am grateful for all the blessings but haven't slowed down enough lately. Today while reading Ann's post on her daughter's gratitude list it blessed my spirit and made me sit a bit longer and reflect on all the Lord has done for me. Somehow writing it down though makes it last a little longer in my memory and helps me to really cultivate a thankful heart.
So ladies, even though it isn't Thursday these are just a few of the things I'm grateful for today.
For the Lord's saving grace, His redeeming me and restoring me to Himself. For His word and His presence.
For life, waking up each day with a relatively healthy body.
For my dear sweet hubby who loves me patiently even at those times I drive him crazy. For 31 years of marriage, sanctified by the Lord.
For my incredible daughters, the wonderful women, wives and mothers they are and most of all for their love, encouragement and friendship with me.
For the sons of my heart-what incredible godly men my girls are blessed with; with how devoted they are to their wives and to their children.
For all my wonderful grandkids-for those to come as well. They are the joy of my heart, make me sing and laugh and stay young. Grow strong in the Lord! I'm thankful that both families have chosen to homeschool.
For my brother and his wife-"sister of my heart" and the promise of spending Thanksgiving with them here.
For friends and family who have so enriched my life.
For bloggy friends who bless me daily with their writings and also their comments on mine. May our Lord richly bless you as you seek Him.
For the hint of Autumn in the air these days.

Have a joyous and thankful day....
until we meet again. Noreen

  1. Hi my friend,

I love your thankful list and I love that you didn't hold off until Thursday! Each and every day holds so much for those who are His children to be thankful for!

I have kept a journal of my spiritual journey since 1989. I don't write in it daily, but do very often and it is such a joy to look back and see all that He has done.
I keep it right with my Bible so I can jot down any thought, prayers, praises and also have added pages for my bloggy friends prayer requests.

I hope your week is full of yet more praise and that your strength is renewed for all you have before you!!

    Love you,
    Beck

  2. Amen! Gratitude helps keep our lives in perspective!

Most nights as I lie in bed waiting to drift off into dreamland, I recount at least five things about my day that were blessings---things I enjoyed. It is a great time to tell God thank you and then fall off to sleep.

    See you Wednesday!

  3. Dear friend, I too love your thankful list. I think we have so much to be thankful for everyday. I firmly believe the more thankful we are, the more positive we become. God is so good...we need to thank Him for all that He's given us....the more we do it the more it becomes a habit.

    Great post as always.

  5. Thank you for sharing. It is all too true in my life that I forget to be thankful when I am consumed with the busy parts of life. I am in the midst of budget season at work (62 hours last week), but need to take the time to be thankful to our Lord for all he has blessed us. Thank you for the gentle nudge. Hope you have a great week.

  6. Hi Noreen,
Sounds like you are having a great day. Isn't feeling grateful the best, and doesn't it just keep you feeling happy. It is hard to be sad or depressed if we are looking for things to be grateful about. I truly think we have to work at that, but it is the best work for transforming our lives into pleasant folks!! ha
You have a great list of blessings
my friend, and your light is shining, Keep it up.
    Blessings, Nellie
