Happy Thursday to you all. It definitely feels like fall is here and I'm fondly remembering fall in northern Ca. If I could choose one place to spend time in the fall and experience the grandeur of the colors, it would be in New England-Vermont, New Hampshire, upstate New York and Maine. Oh how we loved Maine! In fact, we hope to get back there next year and spend several weeks enjoying the beauty of the state. These photos were taken here in Colorado last year; as I've said our colors haven't changed much yet, but I'm hoping that we will be taking a drive over the weekend to see if the colors have a beginning tinge of gold and orange.

I just got back from taking Hunter for a walk and now have to hit the grocery store-we have friend coming tomorrow to spend the night with us and I want to make sure I have all our food stocked up.
My days seem to be filling up and on one hand it's good to be productive, but on the other hand I love slower days.  Maybe this weekend; I just realized that I missed the first show of the Voice last night and that I will miss the football game tonight as I have a ladies meeting.  I'm thankful we have DVR so I can record the shows I'll miss.
I hope your day is filled with the promise of blessings.
Joy to you~

Happy Fall

Autumn blessings from my heart and home to yours!!! I always love this time of year; many of the things I love are Mums, Changing Colors, Autumn Candles, Hot Tea on a regular basis in the evening, football, quilting and hearty dishes like Chili. In fact, I made a big pot of Chili yesterday; it is the only chili recipe I really love. So I'm sharing a few of my favorite things today-this tree is in our neighborhood and yesterday as I walked Hunter I spotted it. I can tell you that many Burning Bushes on the street are quickly turning a bright red-another plant I love, but we don't have any at our new nest.

The next photo is one I found years ago on the internet-I love it.

Finally, this little man as we call him, was helping his dad mow the lawn yesterday. In actuality, daddy was really mowing it and little man decided to help. Once our son-in-law stopped, this cutie kept pretending. He just thrills us-he is so blasted cute!!!

Today Hunter goes to the groomer and I'll be happy with his being cleaned up a bit. Thankfully, we don't let him get really shaggy, but I always know he needs to go when I start noticing mats.
I hope you have a great day today and that you are seeing sights that show Fall is here.
Joy to you!

Sounds and Sights of the Seasons

Yesterday when I was out in the yard, I happened upon this fellow.  Unfortunately, he was dead but still intact and I wondered about him.  Was it the heat?  We are still having days in the high 90's but there is a change in the air; the evenings and mornings are cooler and some of the Locust trees in our development have turned  a brilliant yellow.  This year has been different all over the country; we haven't had the number of grasshoppers we normally get, mosquitoes have been less as well(thankfully since I get horrific allergic reactions to bites), but one thing we are already hearing is the cicadas.  I had never heard of these before we moved here but old wives tales state that when you hear them, you've got six weeks til the first frost.  Oh my, we've been hearing them for several weeks now.  I can't say that I am wanting to stall summer; although I love it, I also love autumn.  Autumn is a time for candles, sweatshirts, quilts and sewing more quilts, reading and not getting up so very early to beat the heat.  We have many family birthdays in the fall and our new little grandson will be born mid-Sept., so there are lots of parties.  This year my brother and sister of my heart will be out for the big Stanford-Boulder game, which we will be attending with them. I always love it when they are here for a visit!  I am wondering if other areas of the country are seeing signs of fall already?
Have a beautiful day!  Noreen
