With all the hustle and bustle of Christmas just a few short days away, hubby managed to see this hawk sitting on our railing and got a picture.  I do love winter when the hawks occasionally come by, the doves and sparrows hang out in our trees.  For some reason, I just glanced outside and saw  a red squirrel in our neighbors tree; that may not seem unusual to you, but we don't see them very much here.  However, I have noticed that lately there seem to be more and more.  It's a beautiful day out and I'm going down to the sewing room to finish Little Man's lap quilt.  It is so him-the fabric is wildlife prevalent here in Colorado and I just did a few lines on it; it is all boy and will hold up, I hope, with his craziness.  I'll post a picture tomorrow.
Lunch time will find me meeting my friend Kam; she is a Christmas baby and so we celebrate her birthday early.
That's about all I have going-just working on wrapping up gifts and getting ready for a sleepover with our two oldest grandsons tomorrow night.   They bought the new Bourne movie after seeing it with their dad and we'll be watching it.

One Handsome Friend

Happy Monday to you!  I hope you had a great weekend and are ready to start this New Year off on the right foot.  We had fun at hubby's work party Friday night, in fact it was complete with food, drinks, bowling, lazer tag and the arcade.  After eating, hubby's coworkers decided to bowl; I love bowling but to be honest I'm not good at it. In fact, if low score won, I would have won both games.
I will say being in such a huge facility that was packed, I was a bit concerned about bugs being spread.   All of my life, I have had bad allergies and often can't tell whether it's a cold or allergies when I'm sick.  Sure enough, during the night I started having a lot of drainage-not a good sign for me.
By Saturday it developed into a cough and yesterday it had settled in my chest.  Still not sure whether it is a cold or just allergies; this meant that we had a pretty lazy weekend.
Saturday afternoon I happened to walk into our bedroom and saw this beautiful Coopers Hawk in the tree outside of our window.  Hubby grabbed the camera and got this shot for me.  I love seeing the Hawks, but don't love how they kill the smaller birds-no I'm not with PETA, just don't like sparrows getting killed.  Speaking of dead birds, Hunter brought a present in the other day-you guessed it, he carried in a small sparrow but was obedient when I told him to drop it.  There were no indications of what caused the birds death, but I'm thinking the cold.
Today will be another day at home, it is just too cold to go out.  I will get some sewing in this afternoon as well.

Happy November

Happy November to you!  It's crazy to realize we are already in the holiday season.  Look at this handsome fellow, I believe he is a Coopers Hawk, that greeted us this morning.  We usually only get Doves on the pergola, but this was such a pleasant surprise. One of our girls gets Bald Eagles in her yard and the other gets an Owl; feel like I'm enjoying nature too. 
I hope you all had a great weekend; we had a fair number of children at our door Friday night and by the end of the evening, both dogs had stopped barking each time the doorbell rang.  Yesterday, we had five friends over to watch the Broncos get creamed. We had pizza, salad, veges and beverages; it was fun to hear us all yelling at the team.  I guess they can't win every game and to be honest, they were outplayed. 
Today, our fluff ball is at the groomers-boy does he hate going there.  Once we get into the car, he begins to shake. I finally realized(o.k. so I'm a bit slow)that the only time he has a leash on without his harness is to go to the groomers, otherwise he doesn't have a leash on.  Hello, let's connect the dots-no wonder he knows where we are going.  I also had a in-depth talk with a manager at the pet store on Saturday about dogs and food.  He told me that dogs don't dislike the taste of certain foods as much as they like manipulating mom to feed them people food-such as boiled chicken etc.  So now we are giving him a mixture of kibble and raw with freeze dried tidbits too. He has 5 minutes to eat it and then it is picked up; he then has to wait until the next meal time.  The man said it could take up to a week to get him to eat right away. This  was something the trainer told me when he was little and we were working together.  It will be interesting to see how long it takes him to get the concept.  We also changed from Wellness Grain Free Core kibble to Blue Buffalo Freedom, because Core was a high protein food and being such a small breed like a Bichon, Hunter wouldn't need it.  Any of you Bichon owners out there, let me know what you use. I used to cook for Hunter's meals and add it to kibble, but it makes it difficult if he is going to our daughter's house while we are away. I'd rather he just ate a mixture of healthy kibble and some sort of raw food. 
It is a dreary Monday here, so I'll be sewing for sure today.
