Good Morning to you! I hope you had a fantastic weekend and are ready for a brand new week. On Friday I had my monthly quilt group and came away inspired to get back to sewing daily. A good friend of mine suggested that we all try to sew for at least 15 minutes a day; I've found if I do that I accomplish a fair amount. I'm hand quilting at night-usually almost four hours and that really helps me finish projects. Nothing to share with you yet. I want to start getting into some other projects, such as Christmas presents, but we'll see how quickly that happens. After the quilt group, I headed down to visit my friend whose out from Ca. I took a neighbor with me and we all went to lunch and then did a bit of shopping. So fun. The remainder of the weekend was nice~dinner out with our neighbors, a boat ride with friends and new friends, dinner with them as well. Most of the gathering are snow birds and live in California, but winter in Borrego Springs. They all have RV's and it was great getting to know them. Someday, maybe hubby and I will be able to join them; however, I am not a gal who would be happy being away from home and family for three months at a time. There are also a lot of places I'd love to see here in the U.S. and bloggers I'd love to meet.
While I've been cruising through bogland, I'm so impressed by all the Fall decorations. To be honest, I've been slow it getting mine out-simply because I leave it up until Thanksgiving. I did want to share a few touches around my house.
Love the giant acorn that I found this year, it can be used to hold candy, a candle or nuts.
A family member visiting brought me this decorative napkin holder and I love it, I have a thing for festive napkins.
My dough bowl on the dining room table. I received the figurines from my sweet mother-in-law.
As I've said, I'm not ready for all sorts of pumpkins(believe me I have lots)but wanted pinecones, acorns and various textures. I think this came out perfectly.
I'm sure by next weekend I'll have put out most of my items; Fall is my favorite season. When we moved here I loved winter, but as you get older the cold and snow seems to get a bit harder to handle.
Have you put out any decorations yet?
May your day be blessed!

I haven't taken any decorations out yet. I love those deer napkins and the napkin holder!! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteNoreen, Your weekend sounds like it was a lot of fun. I think your a few minutes a days sewing is a great idea. We do want to see your beautiful work when finished. I think you did very well with your fall décor. I love that napkin holder. I use a lot of cloth napkins....but also paper ones for holidays. It could hold both. Blessings to you . xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI love the decor. I'm ashamed to admit I have not done any decorating for fall. You've inspired me to get on it. It's been so unseasonably warm here it hasn't felt much like fall was coming. But warm or not, it's almost mid-September already.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good time, and hope you are feeling better. I am not starting fall for a bit. I leave mine up, too and don't want to get tired of it. But its ready...
ReplyDeleteMom has a plan for a nice centerpiece like the one you have in that last photo. But she is having a heck of a time finding a long narrow low bowl or tray. She is still hunting.
ReplyDeleteAll your festive decorations look lovely.

Hi Noreen! Wow, you had a packed weekend! What fun to be out on a boat, I would love that.
ReplyDeleteYour fall decor is really coming together. I like your big acorn too, such a great anchor piece for your fall theme. I don't really have any fall things out, except we did buy two mum plants for the front of the house. It's still in the 70's and 80's here. Seems more like summer still...
I admire your quilting work, good for you for working on it so diligently!
Happy Monday :)

Love, love, love your decor! You've inspired me to get busy on mine!
ReplyDeleteWe're ready for fall! It is cool and blustery today. A preview of coming attractions! It makes me and Stanley want to get rowdy!

ReplyDeleteI am inspired that you hand quilt I am hoping to learn to quilt soon. But I still need to work on the piano, and I am not moving along very fast. I made some dumplings this morning and now I need to get the chicken soup portion ready for supper! I appreciate you and your kind words!
