Happy Thursday to you; today I am thankful for the blessings of grandchildren. Yesterday I had these precious girls over for our final sewing project; it is the same project the other two did on Tuesday. I love that this is a case for a throw pillow, but has a pouch on the front for a book or journal. All the girls made them for their sisters.

So today is one crazy day for me and I think I'll be tired by the time the afternoon rolls around. I'm starting the morning walking(unless it is pouring out), then on the way home stop and have coffee with two quilt friends. I will also be heading to Longmont to have lunch with my first blogging buddy. She no longer blogs, but is active in writing for women's devotionals and stays busy with her grandchildren. We used to meet every three months, but as life goes we've slacked off quite a bit. I think we got together last fall. It should be great to catch up! It's a bit of a drive for lunch, but that's a small price to pay when you haven't seen a friend in at least nine months. I had planned to sit in front of the computer yesterday and get caught up, but again time escaped me. I hope you have a wonderful day. It is hard to believe that Memorial Day is this weekend.
Blessings,

End of the School Year

Good Morning to you! Yesterday was our last sewing day with these two grands and this was their project. It is a throw pillow with a pocket for their book or journal. They did such a great job and even made one for their younger sister. I think they'll make one for the littlest sister this summer. It has been such a joy to work on projects with them; they both love sewing and I know they'll have fun with the skill in the future.

Today I am walking with a friend and I hope we get three miles in. This afternoon I have sewing with the other two granddaughters to finish their pillows. I am so proud of all of them for the last two years of sewing; it's been pure joy to spend time with them and watch them grow.  I'm sure we will have other projects in the coming year, but their schedules will make it difficult to add one more thing in every other week. They know they have access to my stash and my machines whenever they want, so I anticipate some Christmas projects will develop.
It's a beautiful day here and I'm hoping that the storms that brought rain, hail and tornadoes east of us are gone for good.  This is a general weather pattern for the spring and if the rain hits in the evening, it is fine by me~just give me sunshine during the day.
Joy to you!

A Grands Sewing Project

Happy Tuesday to you. The day has already rushed ahead of me; I've been to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned, ran into a new Pet Store to try a new kibble, met my girls and their kiddos for lunch at a park nearby and also walked Hunter as well as did a load of laundry. I wanted to share the quilt project the  granddaughters made during the last several months; of course during my recuperation, we cancelled sewing, so I'm thinking they might just be glad to be finished with the project. Here is the oldest granddaughter holding her doll quilt. She did such a nice job and I think the girls really enjoyed the quilting process. Initially this project was for Valentine's Day but some of the girls choose different fabrics. I just love how they each show their individuality.
I will try and get the other three girls to pose with their doll quilts; I was so pleased at the finished product and hard work that went into this.
Our next project(after all the doll quilts are completed)will be a pillowcase made from 6 fat quarters.  I will taking them shopping next week for the fabric; they love going to the store with me.
Tonight we have the two oldest grandsons, ages 14 and 11, coming for dinner and a sleepover.  They have requested their favorite meals and we will be watching either The Hobbit or Big Hero 6.  On Friday night we will having 6 granddaughters over for dinner and a sleepover.  This week is Spring Break and we are taking full advantage of it.
I'm off now to run to get some Easter goodies and a few other items.  I think the wind is picking up, so not sure if I'll ride today.  Yesterday and Saturday I rode 2 miles; want to keep it up, but snow if in the forecast for Friday-which also means we'll need to cover our bulbs and bushes just starting to bloom.
I hope you have a good day.
Blessings,
Noreen

Jr. Sewing 101

This has been a day filled with all sorts of fun things; to begin with hubby and I took a bike ride, approx. 3 miles at a very good speed. Then after we got home, we went looking for a car for him. We test drove both a Jetta and a Passat; the Jetta reminded me of being in college-it was pretty basic. WE both preferred the Passat, but hubby is determined to have a black sedan. Initially, he wasn't looking for a new car, but the prices now seem so close between the 2013 and 2014 that he might just end up with one. I am going to do my typical online research and see what cars, in the same price range, meet or exceed the Passat. I keep saying that it will probably be our last new car, so he might as well get one he really likes. Here are the sewing pictures I promised of our granddaughters.  Making a tube for the headband.

I just have to say that uploading the photos today was much more complicated; not the process, but blogger kept changing the sequence.  We had such a fun time; I will say turning the tube inside out was challenging for the younger girls. The buttons definitely add a bit of zing to the headbands.
I just went on a short walk with Hunter and our neighbors, so now I'm going to get this post finished so I can move onto other things that I need to accomplish today.
I finished the quilt, but hubby always does the photography and he is at work-I will post it tomorrow or Sunday.
Have a splendid weekend and enjoy being outdoors while you can.
Blessings,
Noreen
