Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day~do you all remember that song?  It is a beautiful day here in Colorado, mainly because my man is home. We had such a nice evening, getting caught up with all that happened here, as well as in California.  Today, we will be stopping by one daughter's home to see the grands and then at noon Hunter and I have obedience training.  This will be level II and we both so need to get back in the routine.  I do work with him, but there is something about being in a class that is good for him. I remember being told that at this age, pups can develop new fears; here, I thought they developed much  younger.  This last week, I saw firsthand a new fear of driving in the car-it happened when we took my hubby to the airport. He might have sensed the stress that both of us were feeling about the trip.  I've got to start giving him treats when he gets in the car now, to help him look forward to rides.  After our training class, I will be checking out a crafts fair and then we will be picking up Lily for the night-Hunter will be so excited.
Today I am thankful for our dog trainer and her working with us.
I am thankful for the cold but blue skies we are having, with no snow.
I am thankful for air travel, that brings my hubby back home quickly & easily.
I am thankful for retirement; as with most folks who retire, I am most certainly more busy than I was when I worked full time.
I am thankful for our health and for Life.
Joy to you!

  1. Good morning Noreen! I do know that song!!! I am so glad your husband is back home, safe and sound. I know that for me, when my husband is away, I am just a wee bit unsettled.
Hooray for training classes, that can still be held with no snow!!! I hope Hunter continues to do well, and will soon outgrow his fear of car rides.
Enjoy your visits today with your grands, and have a beautiful day!!!

  2. I will have to ask you why you are busier now that you are retired....I am finding the same thing. I am busier now that I am not working that I was when I was working....what's up with that? I still can't figure it out.

  3. I wish I was there to teach Hunter how FUN car rides are! I love the car. Maybe try taking him on really short trips to somewhere really fun! And I like that idea of treats! Hmm... I wonder if my mom would start doing that for me ... hmmm...

  4. Yes, mom agrees that the best training happens when the pawrents have to take us to school! We are "on break" until January! Hope Hunter gets back to loving car rides real fast!

  6. All the dogs I've had have loved to go for rides in the car ... hoping that you'll be able to work with Hunter to alleviate his fear of riding in the car.

Glad that your hubby is back home and that you had a nice visit with your grands. I'll be having mine overnight tomorrow ... can't wait!

  7. Hi Noreen! Sounds like life is treating you well! I have all kinds of problems with car rides. Chloe simply does not like the car. It started when she was just a small puppy. If I had to do it over again, I would take her anywhere and everywhere in the car. It seems that she associates the car with going to the groomer and to the vet. Period. Even if we drive to the cottage which is about a three hour ride, she never settles down. She pants and pants and pants and pretty much hyperventilates the whole entire ride. It is quite stressful, not just for her, but for us as well!! LadyBug rides with no problem at all. Now...the one vehicle that they both ride in like perfect angels is the RV. Never a problem as long as we are traveling in that!! I suggested we take the RV to the groomer and to the vet...my husband didn't think that was such a good idea...not with today's gas prices. Have a great day Noreen and Hugs to Hunter!! xo Jeanne, Chloe and LadyBug
